Michel was hit by groundfire attacking an Allied airbase near Waldweistroff on New years day Jan 45 and made a forced landing.
Within a few minutes of his wheels up he was apprehended in some woods and taken prisoner.
Aircraft finished in RLM 82,83,76

Pretty good m8, but with the exception of the black RVT band and the white crosses, the colurs look to be a little on the dark side (pardon the Star Wars pun).

What Goodwood means is the lack of contrast between RLM 83 (which I think is good) and RLM 82 (which I think is too dark). The aircraft itself is "rather dark" due to the colour scheme and the way it was applied.

Cough!! Ok I'll fiddle with the 82.

I took the colors from a profile done by Wrobel in the BF109 G/K book by Janowicz which I think looks great, however I think that some of this might be due to the Grab I posted. You know..Olegs world.
It's late here. I'll try both and post tomorrow.
Thanks Sean, and Cough,Cough... to you Thor, my official RLM consience.

A quick note - you made the same mistake everyone else does - Michel's Blue 2 actually had white gruppe markings. The reason being is that the machine belonged to 13./JG 53 but transferred to 16./JG 53 just before Jan 1. There are photos on the web but a quick reference see:

Title: Bodenplatte, The Luftwaffe's Last Hope
Authors: John Manrho and Ron Pütz
Pages: 304
Format: A4 hardback
Published by: Hikoki Publications
ISBN: 1-902109-40-6

Page 237

Most references I have seen say the colors were 81/82/76 - but you can try to figure that out on your own - I can never figure colors from B/W photos. Check the prop hub as well...

Wotan

PS - also check the fuselage +

I like the skin.

IIRC, this was Mr. Michels first combat sortie... on one of the pics directly after his capture still at the 109, he looks like a boy being caught while stealing milk or such. In fact, he was very lucky, 'cause he had good chances of surviving the war...

Thanks for all the imput guys. This is all part of the fun.

First off, Christian is right. 82 is too dark in the first grabs.
I went back and took a closer look at the skin and there was certainly a difference in the grab compared to the original work.
Sometimes when I'm trying to multitask,I definitely miss things and can screw up.
I now know what the problem was.
I have made two new grabs for you to look over. This is the way I intended it to look.
I think for whatever reason Wrobels beautiful profile is somehow right. Maybe..LOL!
Take another look and I'll tell you what happened. The joke was on me,and it happened very close to home.
Have a look.

One final thing, aircraft from those Wrk.Nr series had their numbers above the swastika on the tailfin rather than on the rudder. At least earlier machines from Erla in the 400 series did...

Here's a good example: http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&l=en&fid=800

Better example as it is closer to the actual Wrk Nr... http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&l=en&fid=1419

Taken into account Farrel. Dont think this was an Erla machine unless it was overpainted

Wotan, those pics dont lie for sure.
I have never seen these.
Capt, unfortunately no Werk showing on the right side.
I'm working on fixing things now. The fuselage Balkens I'm betting on were painted the darker of the two greens.I see the Spinner. Easy to change, however I dont have any half decent Tilde's.
The only ones I have are in Mat. Not sure how, or if it's possible to use them in Photoshop.
I have several not so great ones but none without the outline.
Anyone have any to donate?....Cough,Cough, Thor?
Maybe I could pull them off a grab.
