One nice thing about racing here at SimHQ is that for a given race series, there will be a "stickied" post in the Motorsports forum which lists and links to all of the required car and track files, mod files, and so on, eliminating much of the head-scratching. There will also be a full itinerary of the actual races, posted well in advance. There are even periodic updates posted in the series thread which will indicate which car/track combination is currently loaded on the server for open practice. In general, a thorough read of the series thread will tell you everything you need to know.

SimHQ's admin staff and membership are a very newb-friendly bunch, so no one should feel at all intimidated to jump right in with both feet. Rest assured that if you have any issues, you will have anyone and everyone's assistance in getting you sorted and running at full speed.

Though we can and do become quite competitive while racing, running cleanly and gentlemanly is the focus here, and the spirit of good sportsmanship and community always wins out over all. It is not at all unusual for members here to sacrifice their own race in order to help one of his fellows complete his (I'm reminded of the several curbing hangups at Grand Valley, and of the time that Weasel Keeper pushed my car across the finish line at Joesville when I ran out of gas a lap from the end)!

In racing online at SimHQ you will also get help with your setup. We freely (and against the whole point in competing \:\) ) share our setup to help people enjoy an event as is intended.

If during weeks you jump on and find somebody online, we are always happy to chat. Not always online on teamspeak during the weeks. Thats mostly for raceday events.

I think what has been said about SimHQ motorsports should be stressed out clearly again: We are very friendly, very helpful and we love when people come back to race another day. Its nice when people got bitten by the whole online racing thing. Its fun, its intense, and you need to take a shower.

I also think if you're newbie, don't wrestle with the game by your self. Join in, enjoy the online experience. You get plentiful of tips and ideas on how to approach the cars and the tracks.

I haven't even joined in yet, but feel comfortable due to the responses of my threads so far. I think I am going to take notes as I start playing it and try to do a write up based on a noob perspective. It might help someone else who is just getting started since many of you vets do some stuff second nature now and don't even think about it.

SimHQ in general has been very noob friendly in all aspects as far as I have seen over the last year and a half. I have never been beat up for asking a question or not understanding something someone has tried to explain.

+1 To Destructis sentiment here.

I hope I can join in sooner instead of later, but the online experience for any game is where I really want to go with a game.

SP is good, but MP is where the real fun is at (for me).

Come on in boys. The more the merrier. It takes everyone a little while to get up to speed, and there is no substitute like seat time. With all of the lifeguards around, there is no place better to jump in and get your feet.

Some helpful tips here.

I have GTR2 and a wheel, haven't used them much and looking to get back into simracing.

I am a NOOB as well, but looking for a mature crowd to show me the ropes. Do a lot of people race GTR2 on SimHQ?

Hi Weed

If you would like to try online in a fun and easy to drive car drop in at one of the Tuesday night races at Nasscar for The Rhez Series.
Simply great fun doing a 24hr type race in an hour. Great cars to give online racing a try in.
And you experienced guys might have a blast in these little things too.

Hope to see you there sometime soon ;\)

We have run a number of SimHQ series in GTR2. None are going on right now, but we have some planned for the future.
