Battlestar Back With A Bang

SCI FI Channel's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning original series Battlestar Galactica kicks off its fourth and final season on March 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT with two back-to-back half-hour specials, with the first new episode premiering the following week, April 4, 10 p.m.

Beginning at 10 on March 28, Battlestar Galactica: Revisited will serve up the essential information on the series' past three seasons, providing the uninitiated with an introduction to the characters, relationships and backstory. Executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick serve as guides and hosts.

Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon follows at 10:30 and is a celebrity-studded celebration of the show's effect on pop culture. Interviewees include Seth Green, country music star Brad Paisley and Talk Soup's Joel McHale talking about why Battlestar Galactica is one of the best shows on television.

In the season-four premiere, the last remnants of humanity continue their search for a new home as the thin line that separates them from the rapidly evolving Cylons is redrawn.

Galactica's crew is rocked by Starbuck's (Katee Sackhoff) sudden and mysterious return from the dead, bringing claims that she has been to Earth and can lead them there. Meanwhile, four members of the fleet are still reeling from the revelation that they are Cylons.

So, the crew is rocked, but the Cylons are reeling. Who's rolling? Oh right, SB is, on the floor, in that promo!

From the Sci-Fi Homepage FAQ:

"International viewers might be able to pick up SCI FI by satellite. SCI FI UK /SCI FI Europe is available to those across the big pond, but although they used to be part of this company, we have no affiliation with them now. Furthermore, SCI FI Europe has its own programming schedule and always has."

Well, there are....uhm..."other" ways if one doesn't want to - or just can't - wait for the DVD release though. ;\)

Oh, and thanks for the heads-up. Great news indeed! Are you going to watch Season 4 on TV this time, or do you wait for the DVD?

Believe it or not, I will actually watch season 4 on tv. I finished season 3 a couple weeks ago and I watched Razor last week so I'm good to go!

I wouldn't doubt it. ;\)

So with the writers strike over, I wonder if Ron Moore and the team are reving up to write those final 7 scripts?

I thought all the shows for the fourth season were in the can?

That's not what I read. I remember reading a couple of different online sources saying that they were only able to get scripts written for 13 episodes before the strike began.

11 episodes from S4 have been written and shot (the 13 number includes what they consider 2 episodes from "Razor"). Nine episodes are left... the next episode to be shot will be written and directed by RDM himself.

It will probably take a month to write the rest of the season (they have already structured much of the story) and it will probably take 4 months to finish them all up for release. Don't count on them being released before the fall of this year, or early 2009.

I wonder if RDM could really resist doing some serious polishing on the final 9 scripts on his time off. Usually they are so frantic trying to get them done before shooting starts, would be a nice breather I'd imagine.

WGA rules prevented anyone from writing anything. RDM, as a showrunner, could do some work that was not related to the writing. So, he could think about the script... he could talk about the script with his writers... they could even meet and record the discussion, but not write anything.

However, from what he has said, no one did any writing work at all once the strike was called. Still, they had elements of the overall story mapped out so they just have to start cruncing out the scripts and shooting them. I would imagine that once they have 4 or 5 scripts finished that they will start shooting.

But he could write down some notes or parts of the script for private use only, right? I mean, who else would even have access to his private PC. Or did he himself refuse to write anything out of solidarity with the WGA (having been a writer himself once)?

Not that I know of, its probably available in southern Norway with cable companies, but not up here.

At least not through the satellite company which I subscribe to.

I believe he said that he would perform no writing at all.
