Hello everyone, I'm working on a new campaign which will continue my RAF series and will focus on late 1940-1941. This time we'll be flying Spitfires for No 609 Sqn. 609 was a very international unit, even at this stage in the war. I'm looking specifically for an Aussie to play Johnny Curchin, 2 or 3 English speaking French or Belgians to play the several Belgian pilots of the time and any English, Scottish, Welsh or otherwise to play the other pilots. Tommy Rigler was I believe from the West Country and it'd be especially good to get some northern or other regional accents. I do my voices using Creative Wavestudio which came free with a soundcard. It's not very complicated. What I do want are people who feel they can put themselves in the situation when they're making the soundfiles. It doesn't involve too much histrionics, mainly an ability to be natural AND use your imagination. I'll give you a rough idea of what to say and you can go from there. Please PM me if you're interested.

Friggin' non-Americentric bastages. I saw the movie, and RAF pilots had very Californian accents - at least before they were shot down and then transferred to the Pacific Theatre. Oh, and trust me on this - do every line three times. Even if one thinks they're saying it the exact same way every time one isn't. This gives the movie maker the greatest lattitude and prevents one from being needed at 0330 hours when the movie maker guy is editing sound.

This one wishes he had a microphone and a sound recorder, otherwise he'd lend his imitation British accent to it...

My German accent went into the BBQ language pack.
I'm the irritated/scared bomber pilot.
It's always something of a shock to hear myself crying out for help from the fighters!

Sounds like a deal to me Bussard. Ming...shall I teke that as a yes? Authentic lisping is hard to find these days.
I've had several offers from the Aussie contingent, and 3 English accents. There were no less than 8 Belgian pilots in the squadron in 1941 so we need a Vicki Ortmanns, Mony Van Lierde etc...
Sigh...what a squadron. I wish IL2 modelled goats as ground objects.

BTW...I just realized No609 (Virtual) will be 10 years old this year. I wonder if Relent is aware of this? Be nice to have some of the originals on the voicepack. Whatever happened to OzZiggy?

What kind of French accent are you looking for ? Le 'god bless him he's trying' or Le 'repeat please' version ?
IIRC correctly there was a speechpack made for EAW that had a French wingman in it, it might be worth seeing if you can hijack some of these files...
Cheers
Nico

Neither of those mate. Just someone with a real French accent doing the usual RAF stuff. Are you interested or do you know any other French or Belgian simmers who are? (I'm assuming you're French of course).

I am French, but I'm not an actor . I'll be very glad to help you if you're still looking for 'French RAF pilots' though. You might want to see if Weird_Crapolla, over on the EAW forums, would be interested. He's got one of the most typical accents I've ever heard (Belgian)... Cheers Nico

Which of us is always slightly disappointed when Arsene Wenger doesn't break into 'Thank Heaven For Little Girls' every time they switch to him in interview. Be honest.

EAF would be a good source of assorted accents and nationalities Compans. A few Scots in 602, including myself so maybe a post in our pub would bring forth myriad, assorted volunteers.
A thought...what about firing up teamspeak and recording the beggars live?
I tried to do some stuff for the original RAF voicepack but I couldn't keep a straight face. My wife holding a mic in front of me and me trying to say 'for god's sake watch your tail' or something like that.. we both ended up laughing our heads off.
A lonely impulse of delight, drove to this tumult in the clouds

Sounds good Billy. I made sure I recorded mine when I was alone in the house. Screaming "You f*cking amateur!" at the top of my lungs several times might upset the family.
