Cool, so you could have a server that required nothing but the stock game, and say a map mod with: the Slot, New Britain/New Ireland, New Guinea (not the stock map which is actually Papua), Philippines, the 2 Java maps, Darwin, and Aleutians maps, perhaps with a mod to make the trees not explode from anything smaller than a 1000lb bomb. Oh, and maybe new ships with dazzle paint, gray merchants, etc. And new some new ground objects. Way cool. Hopefully that defuses the whole cheating issue and we can all go back to having as much fun as possible. tater

I think a lot of folks who have mods installed are using a switcher to convert back to a standard install for online play. This is because of conflicts in the game's aircraft lists between various versions. In other words it's more trouble than it's worth to try to get everyone in the server using the exact same version otherwise.

Unless you fly in a squad Murph, and agree on a Satandrad. Then there is no trouble at all.
But I have a Plain install to fly on line. Since I don´t know if the switcher will pass CRC test current or in the making.

Who is cheating? Where is he? I'll have the blighter!!
Seriously though, if someone turns up in a stealth fighter can't we just kick him?
By the way the switcher works fine. I had a seperate install for online until last night when I ran into trouble with the 'out of the wrapper version' so I was forced to use the version switcher on my previously offline version. I now only have one version that I can switch ILLEGAL HACKS on and off with and it works fine.

Ive been away from IL2 for awhile...
Someone has broken the encryption that IL21946 uses on its FM code? Thought they were using a russian military encryption technique.

OK I just did spend another hour reading thru what could have been summerized in a sentence. http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2364005&fpart=5Is an example of all the piss and vinegar one has to sift thru to try to gather the SA on what happened. Apparently some sound mod has given the way to modding that has corroded the integrity of the code as well as the belief that IL2 online dogfighting is a fair battle ground. Then theres the issue of the russian squads having already hacked the code for online war reasons. Facts or fiction? Whether it be leaked for reasons of forced upgrading by the developers, or it be just a fine job of code hacking seems to be in the air. But the net of the net is netplay is compromised. Been there, done that with Janes WW2F and saw how that spelled the end of online trust. I guess SOW is the next holy grail until its time is done? How history repeats...

Thankfully, flying with people you know in HL coops or organised servers, for the most part filters out the sort of losers that want to cheat or fly in hacked aircraft. Anyone who has been a member of the HL community over the years fairly quickly gets to know who is who and morever who they can trust(hopefully). Of course the dogfight servers are a different matter and it is possible to encounter some pretty interesting aircraft. Those that want to fly hacked game are welcome to fly with themselves, and indeed there is one server up at HL as I type, it is characterised by the simplistic flight settings and the childish immature types that populate it. They have NO interest in flight fidelity or historical accuracy all they want is something that makes other things go BOOM as fast as possible. They are welcome to it. Hopefully the chaps working on the Anti-Cheat/Hack programme will come through and restore confidence for the online community My tuppence worth...no further discussion will be entered on my part.

I remember working with Jiri when we got tired of the hacks on WW2F, thats when we put the MD5 checks into HL in its infancy.
Then folks found ways around it by switching exes on the fly etc. Fortunately IL2 came along to extinguish the fires.
Deja Vu.

AH allways a plesure to read unbias, well intended pots like this one, Once aggain. And a most definet display of maturity no doubt. What a rude way to discover that at 37yo, father of three, and married for 15 years I am nothing but a "childish immature types that populate it. They have NO interest in flight fidelity or historical accuracy all they want is something that makes other things go BOOM as fast as possible." :rolleyes, That has been flying Simulators for over 30 years and I must know nothing about fidelity or history or anything at all becouse I got some AAA gifts... Some people should stop using a game to mesure maturity... You know fellows. Aceptance by your peers, respect and to feel good about oneself is very important. But its out in the real world that count´s not here in a forum or a virtual community.
