Are those little squares of water on the map suposed to be there. Every mile or so I see a little square of water on this map.

I love this map too, especially the western part. Some great valleys and swamps. With Canon's new default Russian skins plus these new maps this game is frikkin' gorgeous!

I've got squares and rectangles also. They are dark gray and repeat with the base textures. I'm curious now because I don't see them in any of the above screenshots.

If I play the Desert map from 4.08 in Excellent mode I get little 'holes' in the ground textures. Is that what you guys mean by little squares and rectangles?. IIRC, they were a bit irregular in shape but tended to correspond to the darker patches of the ground textures - ie those that represented bushes/trees. Actually, in the first screenshot I posted you can see similar textures, albeit in different colours, on the floor of the valley.

Those squares, holes or whatever you call it, is a texture bug, which doesn't appear on every system (in fact it seems on a relative low number only). It didn't appear on mine, so its good to have a Beta to check that out.
However, the reason for this bug was already examined and the solution is found. It will not appear on the final patch anymore. \:\)

I think these areas are supposed to be pools of water. I fly on a laptop and my graphics card doesn't support Perfect settings so maybe that is where the fault lies.

I don't think they're supposed to be there because some of the pools are on hills.

I really like the rolling hills on these two maps. My favorite thing to do is skimming along the surface and watch the ground fall away as I crest a hill. Just then a city is revealed nestled at the low point near a river.


I run on perfect/extended landscape with an ATI 1650 w/512 mem. I have 2 Gig of DDR2 mem., and a Duo Core 6700. Win XP Pro. No artifacts so far.


For giggles I made a mission with a swarm of 32 Bf 110s escorted by 8 FW 190s. I'm taking off with seven other La7s to defend the city and it's indutrial zone. I've surrounded my airfield with 12 AA, and two neighbouring towns have about 8 AA each. No stutters. No hiccoughs. NADA.


Sweet map.

A slow belly landing in a I-153 didn't result in a water ditching; it was a crack up. The surface is definately solid.


What's interesting is that the squares are reflective like mirrors. At a low angle you can see an inverse of the horizon.

I have noticed a very unique thing. It has nothing to do with gameplay, but when I made my mission and brought up the object menu the items were transparent in certain places.

For example. if I chose the La 7 from the object menu and pressed SHOW on the display window of the object menu the back part of the fuselage would be flickery/transparent. The fins and nose area would be fine. Hmmmmmmm.

I wish my good graphics card wasn't fried... I miss the games which are more graphically advanced than Theme Hospital...
