Wotan, sorry but I disagree. This wonderful skin can be very useful to mission builders and movie makers, among others. It's not neccessary to make the plane flyable to enjoy the skin. For years, mission builders have used fake skins in some planes, and fake maps. Have you seen "Faith, Hope and Charity"? It's a piece of art, and it uses Russian bombers as Italian, and Pearl Harbor as Malta.

Well, that's the stupidest post I've ever seen on here.

I was looking for a Pe-8 skinned as a Stirling a few days ago, and volia! Thankyou vpmedia, much appreciated, this will do nicely.
We don't want this so we can do you what you suggest Wotan, but it's needed for an online SEOW campaign that's being built.

No hacks, no cheats, just a full server of folk having fun with the IL-2 1946 ver 4.08.

Wotan, you need to get out more.

Makes for a good hack too. Both airplanes were well-defended heavy 4-engined bombers capable of carrying a single massive conventional bomb (Grand Slam / cant remember the Russian equivalent...)

Besides, when you'll be diving on a whole box of these things at night with tracers flying all around your 110, you'll have other things in mind than "hey that's not a real Lancaster, is it ?"

A B-24 skinned as a Lancaster / Stirling that would be more appropriate rather then the Pe-8. The Pe-8 has issues anyway - that skin is only 512 x 512. It is still silly no matter how you look at it. And it is about the 'hacks'. I have sure VP has more of this stuff planned - at least from browsing that other forum.

It's very sad. Certain planes can't be skinned, because some people will accuse you of making them for the "hack-of-the-damned". Wotan, if someone makes a B-24 skin, he will be accused with the same arguments. Some people have not idea of how hard is to make a good skin, film, campaing...

Wow.. that brings back memories.. Remember when we used to use Pe-8s as B-17s?

If the skinner is an active participant in the 'hacking' yes. As much as the 'hackers' like to pop around telling folks how great their 'hacking' is there are others who will pop around telling them it 'ain't that great' - because it's not.
