Opens December 25th! http://imdb.com/title/tt0758730/My gut instinct tells me this one will be a big improvement over the first AvsP movie.

After seeing the trailer I have to admit that I am disappointed. Not because I think the movie will suck, but because I was hoping the sequel would pick up where the last one left off with the alien/predator hybrid aboard the predator vessel. I really want a better look into the predator culture.

Yeah, I don't much like the idea of a totally unconnected story, but I'll hope this at least isn't just a splatterfest turd.

The Jedi Master I really dont mind so much. The only good character in the first AvsP died (Lance Henriksen) and the only surviving character was lame so it may be for the best that there is no connection between the two films.

Did anyone here honestly enjoy AvP? I don't wanna rain on anyones parade, but I stayed clear from AvP for a reason, and when it was on television recently, I forced myself to watch it, simply because I didn't want to be a hypocrite by saying that it sucked, when in fact, I had never seen it to know any better.
So, now I know. AvP sucked!
Now, I can't say whether or not the sequel will suck, but I was really looking forward to the original AvP when it was first announced, and there is a part of me that really wants this sequel to be what the original was supposed to be.
We'll just have to wait and see...

Agreed, I thought it was awful. To be fair, there were a few good ideas in there, but it totally failed to stand out in the end.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though, but I don't think I'll be seeing it in the theater unless the reviews are excellent. I hope they pull it off but I'm not holding my breath.
It does actually seem to pick up where the last one ended and it has got the hybrid in it- it's just dumping the results of AVP onto a small town in Colorado via a crash landing, based upon the synopsis anyways.
When a Predator scout ship crash lands in a Colorado town. The Aliens on board escape and kill all the Predators except one. The last remaining Predator must now destroy all the Aliens as well as the horfic Pred-Alien that was spawned in the first AVP. Meanwhile the towns people are helplessly caught in the middle of the ultimate face-off between these two mythic creatures. A sequel to the 2004 film AVP directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, "Alien vs Predator: Requiem" continues the Alien-Predator war.
I'm a little confused though, this must be the ship from the first one becaues the Pred-Alien "was spawned in the first AVP." Yeah?

Yeah, that makes no sense to me whatsoever. At the very end of AvsP, you already see the Predator ship in space with Earth falling in the background. The Predalien then did his chestburst a few seconds later but why would that cause the Predator ship to then crash? The Predalien was the same size as an Alien chestburster so it would have been easily killed by any of the Predators. Even if it wasn't discovered and was able to hide, how would it be able to sabotage the ship and make it crash?? Hmmm..seems like a story loophole to me.

Why would it bother? Far more likely there's fighting on board which damages the ship and they turn around to make an emergency crash-landing. However, that synopsis I don't put much stock in as it's horrible. The grammar and spelling are "horfic." The Jedi Master

Oh, but how will there be fighting onboard the ship? You have multiple Predators and one small Predalien which is the size of a chestburster. Does it grow to a full size Predalien in just a few minutes and then is able to fight and damage the ship? Even if it only took 1 or 2 hours to grow full-size, the Predator ship would be long gone from Earth.

Interesting, the script is written by:
Script: Shane Salerno, Paul W.S. Anderson, Dan O'Bannon, Ronald Shusett, Jim Thomas, John Thomas
The Thomas brothers wrote the two Predator movies, Anderson directed the first AvsP movie and O'Bannon and Shusett wrote Alien.

Is the script REALLY written by all of them? Or are they just reusing deleted bits of previous scripts that were unfilmed/unreleased? Or did they mean "story" and not "script"? Crediting them for story I can totally understand.

The Jedi Master You have a point and it seems like the actual screenplay was written by Shane Salerno. The other guys were included in the list because of the characters they created. http://imdb.com/title/tt0758730/fullcredits#writers
