Available at Mission4Today: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=2898Through this series of campaigns, I wish to provide something new, with a lot of action, and thrilling encounters. I also wish to pay a tribute to all the French pilots who flew US and/or British aircraft for the French Air Force, featuring French markings on their planes. They took part in many battles from Tunisia to Italy, then France and finally Germany, and contributed alongside their British and American friends to the allied victory of May 8th, 1945. I propose you to rejoin them, in the virtual skies. You may fly recon P-38s together with Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the author of the Little Prince. You may also fly with the Lafayette fighter squadron, and promote the heritage of the legendary "Flyboys" from WWI. You may as well fly fighter-bombers and bombers over North Africa, the Ardennes and Germany. Above all, have fun! Finally, I also added an upgrade for users of BOE (Battle Over Europe). The A-20C is added as a flyable plane to the RAF bomber campaign, and skin assignments are added to a few planes (A-20C, Spitfire Mk IXc, Tempest Mk V), to provide a Free French touch to the BOE RAF campaigns, in memory of the RAF French squadron 342 (Groupe Lorraine), and Pierre Clostermann, the acting 122nd Wing Commander in May 1945, and author of the Big Show. UPDATE: PLEASE DOWNLOAD VERSION 10 (no mods), or VERSION 10 for mods (if you have a modded game). Download links are in my signature.

Thank you !! You are filling a big gap (and fulfilling my virtual chauvinistic dreams ) Have you posted a link to the download on the CheckSix pages ? I'm sure you'll get a very warm welcome if you come bearing such a gift. Cheers Nico

Thank you guys!
Yes Nico, I posted a download link on CheckSix, as well as FranceSimulation, and I also posted news on both sites too.
Now I go back to my P-40s with their Sioux's head over Djerba, otherwise our bombers will take a beating from Erich Rudorffer and his boys flying FW-190s based in Bizerte... (beautiful historical skin for the squadron II/JG 2 is included, thanks a lot to the skinners!).

For those of us who may have a slow internet connection, I have divided the package into seven parts, which I uploaded onto the Combat Ace site, here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showcat=53So instead of having to download a 105 MB pack, you may choose to download a few smaller sized files. The content of the combined .zip files is exactly the same as the big file you can download at Mission4Today. Cheers, Vince

By the way, please select only the Normandie Niemen as the player's squadron, to launch a French campaign.
The Normandie Niemen is the only French squadron supported by DGen. It has no influence on gameplay, after you start a campaign.
Also, please install the EnjoyrPatchAskins, and EnjoyRPatchBskins, to have all the skins used by my campaigns.
FOR USERS OF GAME VERSIONS 4.04m or 4.05m: I WILL ISSUE A PATCH SHORTLY, TO MAKE MY CAMPAIGNS COMPATIBLE WITH THOSE EARLIER GAME VERSIONS.
Cheers,
Vince

Thanks a lot for the encouragements. By the way, please make sure you use DGen.exe version 4.0.6.12.
Based on feedback from folks at Check-Six, I am going to issue a patch to version 2 soon.
Any suggestion guys? Are the missions OK, not too hard to complete?
Cheers,
Vince

BTW, did you play some missions already? Are you able to have the upper hand against the enemy? I have put quite a lof of nasty villains in there... both in the air and on the ground, according to some feedback from other folks.

2 PATCHES UPLOADED TODAY!
Available at Mission4Today.
Please choose the one that suits you:
If you use the version 4.04m or 4.05m of the game, please install the patch for these versions; you will then be able to play the French Wings campaigns on your PC, even with your older game version.
If you have the version 4.08m (1946), please use the patch to update to version 2.

Hello Guys,
I have just uploaded a cumulative update to version 4, on Mission4Today, CombatACe, and CheckSix. It includes numerous new skins, and in particular, 12 skins of very colourful French Spitfires flown by the recon group II/33, specially made by Claymore (thanks a lot to Claymore!).
I really recommend you to discover these birds; be careful: some do bite!
TO INSTALL: SIMPLY UNZIP THE CONTENTS OF THE .ZIP FILE INTO YOUR GAME'S MAIN DIRECTORY, THAT'S IT!
Cheers,
Vincent

Hello falco,
I suppose the skins you refer to are the ones I mention about Tunisia campaigns?
In that case they are included in EnjoyR's skin patch B, "785_EnjoyrPatchBskins_v1.0.zip" (have a look at EnjoyR's patches download page at M4T). My Tunisia campaigns utilize a Blenheim skin, a P-40E RAF skin, and a US P-40M skin from that skin patch B.
I recommend you install all 5 skin patches made by EnjoyR, so that you can have all skins required by the various dynamic campaigns available, including mine.
Also, thank you for the encouraging nice words. I am on my way to version 6, with several significant improvements particularly with regards to the display of generic skins for AI wingmen, and a new career for a bomber pilot from the Bretagne bomber group.
Cheers,
Vince

Hello Guys, I have uploaded an update to version 6, and another one to version 7, on Mission4Today and CombatAceForum. These two updates are to be installed one after the other (update 6, then 7). They include numerous new skins, especially by Claymore and Phazmid, and a fake of a B-26 Marauder by Beebop. This update also adds 1 new dynamic campaign for a bomber pilot, bringing the total to 12 campaigns, for bombers, fighters, fighter-bombers, reconnaissance aircraft. TO INSTALL: SIMPLY UNZIP THE CONTENTS OF EACH .ZIP FILE INTO YOUR GAME'S MAIN DIRECTORY, THAT'S IT! Cheers, Vincent

Hello everybody, It is my pleasure to wish you a Happy New Year 2008 from Japan! And for a New Year gift, here is mine: version 8 of my campaigns. Significant improvements: • Activated functionality to customize your campaigns: you can now set the difficulty level by adding the following lines to the [DGen] section of your conf.ini: CampaignMissions=Easy (or Normal or Hard) CampaignAI=Easy (or Normal or Hard) The first parameter reduces or increases the number of friendly aircraft vs opponents; the second one reduces or increases the skill level of friendly aircraft vs enemy ones. That way you may avoid to face systematically the outcome displayed above… • Additional flyable aircraft: Spitfire Mk Vc with 4x20 mm guns, Spitfire Mk VIII, Douglas A-20J Boston IV, Martin B-26 Marauder (the last 2 being A-20G hacks, thanks to Madtoc and UF_Josse). • New skins: A-20C, A-20G, B-17F, B-24, Spitfire Mk Vc, Spitfire Mk VIII, Spitfire Mk IX, Bf-109Gs, FW-190-A, Me-210, Hs-129, Fi-156, Ju-87B, FW-189, P-40s. Thanks a lot to Beebop, Buglord, Carts, Claymore, Crazy277, Dusty61, Falkster, Imme, Jutocsa, Kristorf, Madtoc, Monguse, Sparty, Tchaika, UF_Josse, UF_Zargos, Vpmedia! • Reworked thoroughly mission scripts, adding more mission types and variety. • Reworked order of battle for North African campaigns: added more units and AI aircraft, based on historical data: A-20C, B-17F, B-24, Bf-109G6, Hs-129, Me-210, FW-190-A Jabo, Macchi MC-200, Fiat G-50, Me-323. More interesting encounters… I really recommend you to try these desert campaigns. • New French roundels with yellow outer ring for use with IL-2 MAT Manager, thanks to Quetzalcoatl. • 2 new dynamic campaigns on Spitfires (bringing the total to 14 dynamic campaigns; previous Spitfire campaign split into 3 separate campaigns): * RAF fighter squadron 326 “Nice” * RAF fighter squadron 327 “Corse” * RAF fighter squadron 328 “Provence” INSTALLATION : ON VERSION 7b; SIMPLY UNZIP INTO YOUR GAME’S MAIN FOLDER; ALLOW OVERWRITING OF EXISTING FILES. You do need to install version 7b prior to installing this patch. You will keep all the campaigns you already started. COMPATIBILITY : 4.07m/4.08m/4.09m. Again best wishes and fly safely, Vincent

Thanks a lot EnjoyR. It is incredible how the world of DGen campaigns has evolved in 2007, with all the choice and improvements we have now, thanks to your patches. The past year has really been an incredibly busy year for us in that respect, hasn't it?
Best wishes to you and your family in 2007!
By the way, did you know that Czech pilots served in 1940 in the GC II/5 Lafayette fighter group, flying Curtiss H-75s? There names were Yashke, Chabera, Janeba, Hanzlicek, Svetlik, Klan. They fought together with Pierre Villacèque, Jean Gisclon and other French mates. Unfortunately after the defeat of France in June 1940, they had to leave.
I wish that the Slovakia map be supported by DGen.exe in 2008, and that we can build nice campaigns there, which are going to enrich your patches.
Cheers,
Vincent

Hi Ojcar, I'm sort of out of the campaign building loop at the moment since I'm in the middle of adopting a couple of children, so I'm a bit busy in real life. I sincerely hope though that others can continue with the idea because all I've ever wanted from FB is a proper RAF career to match the LW, VVS and other nations. Fingers crossed.

Hi,Vince. Last year be truly a very successful in that respect..... also thanks to your help and gigantic work for DGen campaigns and Patches. For you and your family also happy year 2008. By the way,I have got much information on Czech pilots in France in 1939-1945. Very good information source are for me these books: Jiri Railich - Na nebi sladké Francie (Válečný deník československých letců ve službách francouzského letectva 1939-1945) ,,Jiri Rajlich - Sur ciel sucré La France (martial journal tchèque aviateures dans services de France aviation 1939- 1945) Slovak map is pageantry! .... possibly Starschoy will wake from winter dormancy Cheers,Enjoyr

Hi everybody,
I am sorry but I just realized there was a mistake in the file I uploaded on M4T and CombatAce: if you had followed the instructions strictly, the skins may not have been installed properly. I have corrected this and re-uploaded version 8.
Please download again version 8 and install it according to the instructions in the Read-Me, to make sure everything is in order.
Also if you find a Skins folder in your game's main directory with the skins of version 8 inside, simply delete it.
@Ojcar: I did not forget the RAF career project, and have it reserved for 2008. I hope to be able to start working on this soon, and will let you know for any help and/or advice.
@EnjoyR: thanks for the reply and the translation of the title of your book.
Have many nice flights in 2008 and relax!
Vincent

Thanks a lot M8, a very nice video. By the way, I forgot to recommend you to enable external views while playing my campaigns: this way you will be able to see many beautiful and different skins. Quite often you will see different skins for the same aircraft type from one mission to the next, and also even within the same mission, for your enjoyment. Cheers, Vincent

Hello to offliners!
I have just uploaded on Mission4Today a patch for users of game versions 4.04m and 4.05m. This patch enables players who do not have 1946 to play all my 14 dynamic campaigns French Wings 1943 - 1945. The difference is simply the absence of the A-20C.
Happy Easter!

Hello guys, I just uploaded a major upgrade to my campaigns, available here on M4T: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3424It is also available at Combat Ace. 68 years after the June 1940 truce which sealed France's defeat against Germany, they are back! Douglas DB-7, too few, too late: In Syria and Lebanon, another oil war takes place - Yes, a war about Iraqi oil, in 1941...-, and you must defend French territories: In Lybia with the Free French: In Algeria and Morocco: Some fratricides combats would - unfortunately - make victims among the allies: Despite their American origin, the GC II/5 Lafayette did fight fiercely against the Wildcats of USS Ranger on November 8th, 1942: (Note: some screenshots posted here show AI aircraft). Watch your six: The enemy is sometimes very solid and doesn't show any anxiety even after taking a lot of rounds from our guns: Let us rejoin them in these unique air battles! More than 2,000 missions, up to 120 campaigns assembled in 15 careers, a lot of new content, and an exclusive plane set, never seen before in IL-2: you will fly first together with the RAF, and later you may have to fight against the RAF... Just an example of the few oddities the French are capable of. My purpose is to offer you a unique flying experience, Like No Other Pilot...Cheers, Vincent

I just want to be clear. Is this v9 the Full install or do you need to load the original v1 through v8 first?
Just wandering since it is referred to as an Upgrade.
Thanks, vtrelut.

Actually this is an upgrade, and it requires skins contained in versions v1 through v8. However, it is even better to install the skin patches from EnjoyR, and then just the version 9 upgrade, because the skins contained in v1 through v8 are all included already in EnjoyR skin patches. As far as the campaign files are concerned, they are ALL included in the version 9 upgrade.
In short:
1) Install the EnjoyR skin patches
2) Install version 9 of my compaigns
Of course you can also install v1 through v8, and then version 9 if you like, but you will get more skins if you follow my recommendation above, which is to install version 9 on a basis with EnjoyR skin patches already installed.
Have fun,
Vincent

Hello guys,
My campaigns are now upgraded with the modded Curtiss H-75 A2, a new flyable plane by UF_Josse. It is a real joy to fly, and also more realistic IMHO.
These enhanced campaigns are available at M4T, in the specialised downloads category.
Cheers,
Vincent

Hello Vincent,
Sorry for a somewhat silly question : is your campaign still fully compatible with set-ups that do not include any mods (through sheer laziness) ?
And on a more general note, if yes, is the compatibility depending on the decision made by the modder or is it just a natural fact, the mod-compatibility being nothing more than merely adding possibilities in the campaign ?
Congratulation for your effort. Nice to see you in the Yakasuni museum.

Hello SG1,
Your question is not silly. Thanks for asking it.
My campaigns are fully compatible with set-ups that do not include any mods, unless you put the new pack I just uploaded. The new modded pack I uploaded on M4T and Combat Ace includes data bases referring to a new plane, the Curtiss H-75A2; it also includes a DGen.exe that replaces the P-36A3 by the Curtiss H-75A2. So if you activate this pack on a game set-up without the required mods, it will not work, simply because the game won't accept the Curtiss H-75 A2 even just as AI. So it is not recommended to install the modded pack on an unmodded game, because the modded pack is designed to work with certain mods... don't worrry, everything is explained in the read-me.
If you install just the version 9, i.e. French Wings 1940-1945: Like no other pilot, it is fully compatible with an unmodded game. No problem at all.
If you then mod your game, you will see automatically new content with the possibility to fly the MS406 and the P-36A3. This content is already included in version 9, but visible and activated only after you mod your game. It does not create any problem if you have no mods installed, it is just invisible and not available if your game is unmodded. In fact without mods there are less campaigns, but you won't notice it, and it will not disturb anything, so it is fully compatible with both modded and unmodded set-ups.
If you mod your game with the sound mod and the Curtiss H-75 A2, and then install the modded pack, you will have the P-36A3 replaced by the H-75 A2. And then you need this plane, or there will be errors and missions won't load.
Conclusion: a lot more content if you mod your game, and more realistic campaigns if you install both the new H-75 A2 and the modded campaigns' pack. In particular, all 4 groups flying the Curtiss H-75 A2 (GC I/5, I/4, II/4, II/5) have extended campaigns including the Phoney War, the Battle of France, Mers el-Kébir, Dakar, operation Torch... And it is important because these 4 groups got the best results among all French fighter groups during the Battle of France, and some of them participated to extraordinary and truly poignant air battles such as the Lafayette group against - unfortunately - F4F Wildcats on November 8th, 1942: the only time during WWII when US planes where engaged against US made planes. The only way to play these campaigns is to... mod your game.

UPDATE: VERSION 10 - Unmodded - available since November 11, 2009I just uploaded version 10. It is compatible with 4.09m final version, and actually requires it. It is the first DGen campaign series featuring new 4.09m planes. It is available right here: http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3424New friends: New foes: A Free French Hurricane trying to destroy a Sparviero over Lybia: The new version contains numerous improvements: skins, mission scripts, bug corrections. Prior to installation, it just requires EnjoyR skin patches to be installed on a 4.09m game version. Enjoy your flights! Please note that a new fully modded version is coming soon, with a lot more planes and maps available.

Hi, I tried version 9 only yesterday. Can you make a version for 4.09 with UP 1.8? Simply because that's what I'm using and its quite a stable mod with everything required, a lot of new maps etc.

The new modded version will use both 4.09m and MODS, including many of those included in UP 1.8.

Flying in fighters or bombers, from the Battle of France through North Africa, either with the Free French or with the Vichy air force, until the last days before Victory, on the Western or Eastern fronts: Like no Other Pilot! In 1940, against overwhelming odds: With the Free French in Africa: new Abyssinia and Lybia campaigns: In 1941 and 1942, defending French colonies in Africa and Lebanon & Syria: Fighting again the Luftwaffe, together with the allies in 1943 -1945: Of course you will also fly in the usual Bell P-39s, Curtiss P-40s, Republic P-47s and late war Spitfires as well as Yak-3s... among many possibilities, and against a wide variety of enemies. All explanations and download links to required mods are provided in a special Read-Me file, whether you use mods packs or not. Enjoy your offline flying!

Hi Vincent, does the Abyssinia sub-campaign use the SandsOfTime map or Kapteeni's east africa map?

Well actually it uses both! The map used for Abyssinia is definitely Kapteeni's East Africa map; however to use it I had to copy it in the Sands of Time map folder, as if it was a variant of the Sands of Time map for DGen. But it is definitely Kapteeni's East Africa map in game, with the same topography, elevation, textures, colors, texts, etc.
This map gives a definitely new feeling and ambiance to the campaigns featuring it, especially the Abyssinia Blenheim Mk IV campaign (GRB No 1, to be renamed later Groupe Lorraine).
I also use a variant of Kapteeni's East Africa map for the first Tunisia campaign of the GC II/5 Lafayette (Curtiss P-40), because its elevation and atmosphere are more suitable, according to what I read (Thelepte was in a mountaineous area).

Don't suppose you could update the basic campaign package to the latest version? The main download at M4T says it is version 1, but the updates listing begins at version 5 and goes to 8, yet there is mention of versions 9 and 10 in this thread. ??? Would be greatly appreciated to have the basic archive updated for ease of use.
**Edit** Found the full latest version 10 download on M4T. My apologies for being crabby.

You just need the modded version I just released, plus EnjoyR skin patches, that's it!
All explanations are in the read-me files. No need to download and install earlier packages.
