Still, platoon command would seem to me to be an essential component of any realistic tank sim (just as wingman orders are crucial to a flight sim). I agree 100%! But for now I support the notion of the developers and publisher to utilize the available resources and provide a solid game first and bring more content by the way of addons a bit later.

Rainer, you know I respect your lead on this, but.....
G5 needs to get their act together (WOV review conclusion here on SimHQ):
Conclusions
Wow on WOV. I have never said this about any simulation, until now: If it were me, I would be ashamed to have this product out there for sale and actually collect people's money for it. It is unfinished beyond words. A typical demo is better than this. Does it have it's good points? Sure. The potential is there, and maybe not all that far away from being realized. But for whatever reason, the decision was made to kick it out the door and call it done. It ain't done, ain't baked, don't try to stick a fork in it. Will it get better with several major patches? I don't know, after this, I can't see the team devoting any resources to it. We shall see.
You also know how we feel about design teams devoting enough resources to bring out a good product, even if it's one that the sim community has been waiting years for.
(it takes more than just a devoted testing team)

yeah.. when I mentioned WoV to G5, I didn't get much response, but the response I got was very interesting. However, I can and will not disclose it here. On the other hand, all mentions of TvsT sparks enthusiasm as well as full support from the guys at G5. We never know about the background of the development of WoV and what role C1 played in the outcome. But I am sure we all know that the publisher "makes or breaks" a game... any game! So, not G5 is to blame (as the developer is just a "tool" for the publisher that funds a game) - I would look at C1 for a reason of delivering the game in this rather unfinished state...

Wishing you all the best too Rainer (as you have worked more than diligently on this). Why ... thanks! But I am just the middleman between the devs/publisher and the community. Nothing more..

If this game have no radio communication with the wingman and to get order or call service e.t.c.? This game will not have in the release a map and -mission editor? You can use only one scenario and the same tank? There is no tactical map? Ok other question, what the game have from this stuff what you need 2007 for a good game?

That's a good point you're raising, Werra. And very interesting, too. TvsT was planned only as a budget title and has evolved - thanks to input from the community and our international testers - to something more: A first in a series of new WWII tank sims! So, even though the intitially released version may be lacking the desired features that all of us keep requesting, the developers and Russian publishers already have plans to add features down the line. So, WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs. Tiger is the first in that series. Later titles (or expansions) could be WWII Battle Tanks: Western Front, or similar, which includes desired features, new campaign, new vehicles, etc, etc. I am personally quite intrigued by how the game, that's based on a 10x smaller budget than western games would have, has evolved and keeps on growing... Cheers, Rainer

Werra,
Things are looking good here with TvT. Many months ago when Rainer first announced TvT, he (and the devs) asked the community if they wanted a "fully" operation sim (years to make and release) or a good, solid sim with less features (and released earlier) with the possiblity of future add-ons of maps, weapons, etc. Virtually everyone voted the later - release TvT sooner so the community can "play" with it and suggest further enhancements. And that's what we did. This decision meant the devs could get community buy in and recover their developement costs sooner, thus keep this program from dying an early death because of endless feature requests.
From the community perspective, it meant we could contribute our knowledge and preferences into the game as it developed. Many of us have expereince with Panzer Elite, Steel Beasts, etc., and contributed the knowledge of those sims into TvT (BTW, thanks Rainer for making "wind sensitive" smoke columns). Thus far, I'd say the TvT dev team has kept their end of the commitment. We the consumers haven't spent a pence yet and it's been fun to see our suggestions coded into the game (or added to a future feature list).
It's my belief that this is the way for developers to create "speciality" sims and stay in business. Military sim genres don't have the following of 100,000s or millions of consumers. Devs can no longer make new simulator games for PCs and expect to turn a profit. Even Microsoft stopped doing this with their CFS series.
We are all looking forward to this WWII tank sim and expect the the devs to "refine" it after its release.
Cheers, gx007

Tell the Devs. "Battle of the Bulge" would be a seller! 50% of the Tank-Simmers from the USA will buy it because they can play the germans on an offensive campaign! The other 50% will buy it because they will be defeated until Bastogne and then the can say "Nuts!" and then play "Payback-time" with the german aggressors! PS: Rainer, maybe Frogster is a Publisher for germany. They released Red Orchestra here and they published some other russian games in germany! http://www.frogster-interactive.deOder CDV, hab gehört Teut Weidemann(Panzer Elite) treibt sich da rum, weiß aber nicht obs aktuell ist.(Seit Juli ist er Vorstandsmitglied (CTO) für Entwicklung und Technik.)

I have every faith in you Rainer and the TvT team .. I just want a bascic but good sim that I can get back on the multi-player game and kill Major Magee and Barkman over and over again ! Just a point that Xambrium made and its a valid one.. USA are mad WW2 tankers and so any expanstion pack after the new relase would need that to be kept in mind. Although I get know pleaure out of driving my own countrys ( British ) tanks around in a Panther rich battle field lol ... asta Rainer and give my love to that American wife of yours The wife says "hi". Well, MP-testing is in full swing and G5 is in a bug-fixing frenzy. I am sure we can get a word in for British and American tanks in a future release, however that might be construed.
