I just ran the test mission a few times that's included with natural sinking. It's looking good.

The compromise I have arrived at is the zone.cfg from NSM, the warship .zon files from Die Slowly 1.6, and the default .zon files for the merchants. That way, if you put 3 torpedos into a 1500 ton cargo ship, you are going to blow out its keel and sink it in a couple of minutes as it should (instead of having to wait 10-20 minutes while it floods), but on the other hand you are still going to need to slam 8-10 torpedos into the Yamato to bring her down.

These are great...but one thing. I can't get the retextured interiors to work. And they are the ones I wanted to see most of all. I even tried putting them in manually, but all of my subs still have the stock textures. Everything else worked fine.

Yeah, L. Used the utility first, went into the sim to see it, and nothing. Same old interiors. So I went and did a manual install...still the stock interiors. I mean, it's not a disaster or anything, the stock ones aren't bad. It's just that those modded ones are so much nicer. By the way, that new water looks fantastic!

I get nervous every time I attempt to activate a mod and JSGME spits out a "that file is in use by xxx mod..." Or we can dredge up the "one big mod versus lots of little mods" argument. While I like the ease of using one big mod (Trigger Maru, et al), I like the flexibility of using the smaller mods so I can tweak just the things I want tweaked. Final question of the day: Does it reflect poorly on the game's designers that so much is tweaked so often by the users? Or is the plethora of mods a salute to the designers that they created such a flexible and easily tuned game?

Pooch, SI has one folder, then inside are a bunch of others. SI_XXXX, SI_YYYYY, etc.
You need to dump THOSE folders into MODS, not the 1 fodler with all those in it.
Enabling SI should be like 4 separate SI mods. The last is only installed if you want metric instead of imperial (ends in _meteric or something like that)

Yeah, T, I did that. And when I didn't see the new interiors I went in and scooped up the files and pasted them in manually. Still no new interiors. Strangely, I have everything else in the mod, including the retextured instruments (which I really prefer over the stock ones, by the way). So thats's what's so strange. I've got everything but that.

There is an updated version of Living Breathing Ocean available. Leovampire the mod developer has tweaked things quite a lot and it looks very impressive. You just need to revisit the original subsim thread and the first post has been updated to point to the new files.
