A wing isn't very substantial if the underside occupies the same space as the top. Hi VBH, I think you will find the top and bottom surfaces of the wing do not occupy the same space, it is a true 3D wing. Have a look at the 3DZ. It just looks a bit thin in the screen capture........others might have a better idea about the artistic reasons why. Regards sydbod

Gibbo The pilot is certainly way out of scale with the model and very mushy, could you tweak Jan's new pilot to fit? Ade

'Course, y'all realise this IS a LOrez aircraft don't you? The entire thing is on one 256pxl texfile, as such I think it's not too bad at all especially for a biplane, eh? Well done Col. lol DeanH

Sure hope so Col.,
this game needs a big push to get it back into headlines and a WWI theatre might attract some players from other games. Great Syd, it isn't so obvious from the picture. I realise it's a lowres plane, which is a bit sad really, but perhaps with this the road is open for new highres models without all the unnecessary sidelined nodes and elements. Perhaps a good tutorial on 3DZ'ing will help to attract a few more modelers as we're running pretty low on those I think.

It's great work, and looking so good that some think it's finished. Quite a compliment.
Highlights are an artistic choice. Looking carefully at good photos, you may be surprised at the sharp contrast between shadows and bright highlights, particularly on glass or bare metal. Highlights and shadows are useful in delineating the "depth" details and outlines of the "virtual" aircraft as distance increases.
On PicPac, Dean, I have had that problem. It was my desktop file manager. Too many folders and file branches and it lost its way. Also did that on the DOS window. As a test, try the "Start/Run" option on a PicPac file moved to the base directory or even another hard drive. If no go, it's got to be a bad file or the operating system has a glitch.

Hi Guys. I've been thinking about doing an HR conversion job on the basic model, because the low res can't really do justice to Dean's skin. Breaking up the model, would also get over the non mirrored problem too, as there is no PCX space left to easily fix the problem. I'd also be able to add all the missing string, as on the LR model, I've practically run out of points and real elements. Adding more new elements should not be a problem, after all our research. I've got a set of cockpit wing views finished for the model, only the cockpit interior in now missing.

Hi Wuddy, thanks for the ideas mate, I've tried them but still a no-go I'm afraid. The strangest part seems to be that it appears just simply 'dead', that is, a click on the picpacw.exe file gets ZERO reaction, no msgs or anything. It does make me wonder if there's something old that I haven't got installed on my system, either (perhaps) something from and old directX install version, or a 'fuller' set of VBruntimes than I have now? There's also the possibility that my zonealarm or AVG is reacting to it. The search continues... Cheers DeanH

Sorry blokes, did'nt realise this was a LR model, it looks that good. Gibbo, an upgrade to HR would set a new benchmark and maybe some more WW1 models.
Have a WW1 scenario done using Brad's WW1 terrain with trenches and Dunkirk's ground objects, but sadly no authentic planes.ie: Camel, SE5, Spad, Fokker tri, Albatross etc... One day!
cheers Ade
