It's quite sad that your game purchases are determined by if they support your LCD's native res. Your game choices must be severely limited and some newer games will run at a poor frame rate at 1920x1200 res. That's why I still use a 22" CRT. Any game is always at its sharpest no matter what res I set it to. They'll have to pry my CRT from my cold dead hands. As mentioned above, I've got more games than I have time to play. Resolution is not a limiting factor for every game, it's just nice to be able to play at 1920x1200. The problem with ver1.0 and ver1.1 SH4 is that the 3D display was locked at 1024x768 which looks just terrible when it's stretched to 1920x1200. Also, bumping a 24" widescreen down to 1024x768 looks really bad too...native res is what's going to look best on an LCD. At 1920x1200 I don't have any frame rate problems either. My new build has basically shredded everything I've thrown at it this year...even with all the graphic goodness maxed out. X6800 (OC to 3.3GHz), 2 Gb XMS-Pro RAM, 680i mobo, 2x8800GTX's, & X-Fi sound...Plays R6 Vegas at 85fps (1 card at 1920x1200 with res hack), GRAW at 180fps (SLI at 1600x1200), NWN2 at 75fps (one card at 1920x1200), STALKER with FOV hack at 160fps (SLI at 1920x1200) or 85fps (one card at 1920x1200), Oblivion at 95 fps (one card at 1920x1200), etc, etc. I used to love CRT's too, but my new widescreen LCD is the swizzle. I just didn't want to pay $50 for something that was going to look like crap on my new setup.

I really don't think that you will be disappointed at the Graphics in the Game. And your machine tops mine and I have things topped out and running 1680x1050x32 @ 60 hz and it was sluggish on the 1.0 & 1.1, but now after the 1.2 patch, my machine appears to run better and smoother than before. I have had absolutely NO lockups or Crashes since I put on 1.2.
Enjoy SH4.....I am!.......

1600x1200 is the highest resolution I've seen anyone mention here or at subsim...is 1600x1200 the max allowable res in version 1.2? Still on the fence about SH4 because of the res issue. I downloaded the patch last night though, so it looks like I'm leaning towards getting it...just want to be sure it will play at my monitor's native res before I shell out $50 for it. Otherwise I'll probably wait for the price to drop...it's not like I don't already have too many games to play. It's quite sad that your game purchases are determined by if they support your LCD's native res. Your game choices must be severely limited and some newer games will run at a poor frame rate at 1920x1200 res. That's why I still use a 22" CRT. Picked up SH4 on the way home from work yesterday. After getting it loaded and patched, I must’ve experienced some lost time because the next thing I knew was that it was way past my bedtime. So here I am at work, dog tired, but anxious to get back home and resume my patrol. The game performs well and looks really beautiful at high resolution; it also provides the familiar absorbing game play of past SH titles. I’m very pleased with SH4 so far, and I foresee spending many hours with it. I’m glad the developers got this thing fixed so quickly, otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased it until it was in the bargain bin. Thank you all for your feedback. Ahoy, and good hunting!!

Hehe...I'd like to see burglars try to carry a 22" CRT out the window Eeegads ya, that thing must weigh in over 80 pounds and suck 150watts of electricity to run! I have a 22" LCD and I won't go back to CRT. I occasionally have to use a CRT time to time and they strain my eyes too much compared to an LCD. The difference is huge once you've had a good panel for a while. The lcds are so bright too, and they're not going to bend your table from weight over time or cost ya $200 a year in power use. I will admit though I miss the heat given off my CRT in the winter, but when the high temps in July hit I wont miss CRTs one bit!

Now you need to load some of the very fine community mods - sere the last post - by me - on the first sticky topic in this forum.

Mods are definitely in my future, probably be downloading some tonight. Good to see that there's already a list of 1.2 compatible mods.
