Any news yet? \:\) I'm getting a bit impatient.

I haven't been flying nearly as much as I want too since I bought it. Mainly due to the CRAPPY multiplayer code. -- disconnects -> you're allready logged in from another computer etc...

Supposedly the SP1 patch is in beta, and the beta testers I've seen say their under an NDA. Oh well.

Quote:
Flight Sim X SP1 greatly increases multicore utilization and will scale as more threads are available leading to reduced load times as well as frame rate improvements and greater visual complexity during flight.

This is great, actually more than I thought they'd do.

Quote:
As far as the release date for SP1, we need to get Beta2 out and see what remains. The last day of April is still possible, but any significant Beta2 bugs will cause us to fix them and delay – we want SP1 to be right for the community and are not tied to a date.

This is not great, I want it now \:\)

I for one, cant wait. :-) crossing some fingers that I'll be able to get more than 10fps at KDEN with full AI.

I guess I'm patient because I still am waiting to buy FSX!

But I'm eager to see if they've made things more scalable. Hopefully the multi-core usage is a significant update.

Not having a muti-core CPU, I'll have to wait and see if this is going to help my FPS.

I'm still waiting for the MS team to resolve my problem with activation. I have a feeling the patch will be ot before they resolve my issue.

Uninstalled this ages ago, tried recently after changing mobo / processor to Athlon 64 4000+ but alas still run below acceptale frame rates.

If they release a patch that improves performance then I may reinstall but i'm in no hurry as its a big load of disk space I can save.

Granted the game is in dire need of optimisation. But have you checked the tweak guide ?

My specs
AMD 64 4000+
Asus A8nSLI delux mobo (yeah the fan went on it - but did get a free one)
Asus 6800 256mb Gfx card
1 gig DDRam
2 x 120 gig Barracuda HDD's (not in raid)

Using some of the tweaks i can get the game to run to an acceptable level. (though its unaceptable that the minimum specs on the game packaging are so outrageous - and that i have to piss about in a config file to get the game to run.)

I have all sliders set to high - med high and average water + Some AI planes, boats and cars.

If you have a specs close to mine you can use FSX if you don't mind doing a bit of a dance before hand picking out the best tweaks to get it running.

I too am waiting for a patch. But my reasons for it are for the following.

1. optimisation
2. to get rid of the monstrous memory leak in game
3. to fix the mind boggling errors in the 3d pits that EVERY default plane i have tried has.

I think the biggest issue i have found when talking to people that can or can't run this game is the memory in the graphics card. Minimum specs should be listed at 256mb (though realistically i think minimum should be 512mb)

Also 2 gig of memory would be more of a recomendation as well.

One of the weaknesses i am finding in the new systems is not the graphics but the Hard Disk speeds. It takes forever for FSX to just loadup with all the thumbnails, etc. I have SATA 150 not 300. 300 may help but I'm looking forward to even faster access. After it loads it is fine.

There's a new look at the nVidia 8600GTS in FSX, of course using DX9. Will be interesting to see how this same hardware handles DX10.

Full specs:

AMD 64 4000+ (2.4Ghz)
2Gb DDR 400Mhz
ATI X1950Pro (512Mb)
SATA 250Gb (150ms)
XP Pro
...and a joystick ;\)

bogusheadbox, I would say similar but memory and gfx card are slightly better, please tell me that after the many tweaks you have applied you can get the mission where you start in the harbour you get more than 10 fps ? Granted, the game appears smooth over desert but thats really not the point with this new tweaked engine is it ?

Could you post your config so I can try it (pm if u like), I would like to try again...humph.

Virtual cockpit has several buttons that unable to click, but in 2D cockpit they works. Such as taxi light in some airplanes, engine controller(unable to click "on" but can click "off")...

Microsoft had yet again postponed their work. Hopefully they have a good beta team... \:\)
