I can't seem to zoom when in free mode. For some reason my wouse wheel doesn't zoom. Any suggestions.

Use your arrow keys for slow,(the up one) or shift arrow for faster zoom hope this helps.

Thanks. I found that but needed to turn my NumLock key off.
