Mark, thanks for all of your hardwork.

Do you happen to have the logfile handy? I think that's what it's called, opens all of the missions.

Thanks, again.

Mark, can these be used with the various EF2000 v2 installs, or only the original dos, non tactcom and non windows version. (I DID forget about them!) Thanks, regardless.

I'm not sure, I've only used them with V2.0 for Win95 (Super EF2000). Since they don't run inside the game (like Strategic Command, I think) and only edit the campaign file, I would think they would work with all versions, but I don't know for sure.

I don't want to sidetrack myself even thinking about it right now, but I've started a similar type program (in VB like my TAW Configurator) which I'm hoping will change all a/c at once. Maybe I'll have a way to save your favorite a/c changes to file and then you'll just press a button after starting a campaign to change them all automatically (if it works that way). I'm going to get back to that after I finish the Guides, especially now that mikew is opening up the EF2000 DID.DAT.

Thanks again Mark - you answered my question: you're using it with EF2000 - the Windows install. That's the one that works online, for campaign multiplayer. BTW, Super EF is a different - Euro - edition and not quite the same as EF200o V2.0 Windows version. I understand they are not compatible online, for one thing. Kind of confusing, but I would think the editors you posted should work on either for the reasons you mentioned.

I'm not sure what can of worms I've opened here...
Anyway, in terms of single player gameplay there appears to be no difference between SEF2000 and EF2000 V2.0.
In MP though, on the surface the big difference is support for TEN (Total Entertainment Network). Whether this makes SEF2000 incompatible with EF2000 V2.0 in multiplay, I don't know.

Having briefly done a comparison, I think mikew is correct. Which has me wondering why this PDF of the Super EF2000 Manual is missing some very big features...

http://198.65.10.229/DID/SEF2000_Manual.pdf

Look at Manual page 36 (PDF page 38) or select Overview in the left margin. Compared with my V2.0 Manual, it's missing two very big features, Custom AA and the Mission Planner (plus all related text). I know those are in the game but I don't know why they're not in the Manual (at least not in this one)???

Heh! Beat me to it! I have a copy of REVIVE and have been meaning to post it, but haven't been at my home PC in a few days to upload it to my webspace and post a link. I have EFUTIL around somewhere too, but not handy, so Thanx for the DL.

Looks like the DYNAMIC DID DUO of Hawk and Neph didn't need these to complete their campaign with Lightning (or should I say TYPHOON) speed!

They do appear to be incompatible. I tested on my LAN with EF2000 V2 as host and SEF2000 as client. The client saw the game, and seemed to be able to join, but I never saw the Join from the Host screen, nor did the game launch on the Client Side.

I should do the POSITIVE control and make sure I can link up like for like as well.

One more somewhat disappointing development in their sim development and design. What's odd is that SEF came out last - so you would have thought the two Windows releases would have MP compatability.

This was probably already answered somewhere, but is SEF compatible with itself, IP to IP? or is it LAN only?

If this timeline is correct...

http://www.migman.com/ref/1990_combat/EF2000/versions.htm

...then wouldn't V2.0 have come out last?

I think you're correct, Mark. V2.0, is the U.S. version and came out last.
I think it's one of the few times the U.S. had to wait.
Of course, I could be wrong.

You're right - I switched them. My point though was that with one Windows MP version already out, why or how could they have made a newer Windows release - NOT compatible online, IP to IP? Makes no sense, without an explanation.

Also, looking in my 2.0 install, the windows exe is labeled: "superw.exe"

I keep forgetting to do this:

Back in THE DAY, I subscribed to a UK Flight Sim magazine called ENEMY LOCKON, edited by Dominic Silk (a name all who have read the F22 and/or EF2K strategy guides will find familiar). In one issue they described the complete lineage of the EF2K series. I keep meaning to scan it and post a PDF.

Some really good stuff in those back issues...from when EF2K was the HOT NEW KID on the block!

Here is the short EF2K G+ review from Volume 2, Issue 10. Oddly no date other than copyright 1997.

Format was UK standard, A4, so it may not printout well on 8.5x11.

What a good magazine it was!! If I get ambitious I may try to scan the whole issue.

Also included in this isssue are lavishly illustrated reviews of:

iF-22 Raptor
F16 Fighting Falcon
Saitek's new Joysticks
Commanche 3
Su-27 Flanker 1.5 Mission Disk

and a PREVIEW of JSF and Flanker 2.0

Also a nice article on Flight Sim Viewing Systems (Padlocks) with lots of detail on EF2000's system.

Thanks, Recluse. \:\) You can tell by many of the pages that the book is deteriorating, although it was delivered in like-new condition. I'm almost finished scanning my V2.0 Manual, but it's still in great shape.

I had three more spines cut out last night, my F-22 ADF Manual along with the full Allies & Adversaries. Plus one that's not DID but needed to be archived, my Microprose F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0 Manual (1991). I still read this one all the time, but I've been wanting to put my original in a safe place.

The EF2000 V2.0 Manual is ready, although like the accompanying software, I won't link to it here. Please PM me if you need it. Note that the Super EF2000 Manual at the popular doc replacement site is missing important information like mission planning, plus it prints like crap (mine is in color and much better looking, IMO).

The F22 ADF Manual is also ready, although you already have most of it with the TAW Manual. It is a little different though, it makes more comparisons to EF2000 while the TAW Manual assumes you're already familiar with ADF.

I'm now scanning my last DID-related material, the full Allies & Adversaries that was included with ADF. It's almost the same as the reference material included with the TAW Manual, but it's bigger (not abbreviated, 173 pages vs. 109) and in color. Again, PM me if you're interested, I'll respond when I'm done.

ACM Sim heaven sounds like a nice place, but I think whoever figures out how to make a better looking water texture (a solid color might look better than what we have now) or a more interesting sky deserves to go there. I'd settle for a long and dynamic Sim limbo. \:\)

Mark,
F22ADF users,

I was looking over an old HD that i use as a backup for my old games and found the MAWgui v106: Micro Air War for F22 ADF. It was wrote to add a Dinamic campaign to ADF before TAW release. I remember that it works very, very well and in some ways even better than the TAW dinamic campaign itself (it's totally customizable campaign). If someone wants it or if you want to upoad it in somewhere and put the link on the first page, please, just contact me. ; )

And what the heck is this???

EMU (Eurofighter Multiplay Utility)...

EMU allows you to create missions to fly, involving ground units, air units, and static targets which can be flown co-op over networks for users of EF2000 G+.

How many add-on programs were developed for DID sims?

Hello,

I managed to obtain a copy of "Strategic Falcon" for EF-2000 V2.0 DOS. I haven't managed to get a DOS set up recently but it is apparently a fairly extensive enhancement to the campaign and control system.

I have uploaded it to http://web.ncf.ca/ee555/

Thanks, Avimimus. This is Strategic Command by Flying Muffin, yes? We tried getting this to run but couldn't (think I downloaded it from your website). IIRC, Nephilim got the farthest with it but I think it kept crashing on him. I have a printout of the manual to read for the awe factor (assuming it actually worked as advertised).

I still haven't looked at the ADF campaign manager from Rubini, something came up, but I'll look it over tonight.

Nice! Been looking for this for the archives...and to see if maybe I can get it going on my older machine.

I would recommend changing the name to Strategic EF-2000 or Stategic Command for EF-2000 as there was another Flying Muffin product (which I bought and paid for back in the day...) for Falcon 3.0 called Strategic Falcon.

Neph and I tried very hard to get this to run on any version of EF, even on the EF it was originally designed for - the dos install. No luck. He did actually get it running briefly, but it would explode and create a mini blackhole when trying to actually use it. He and Hawk were drawn through the black hole event horizon and came out in the Falcon AF World.

It also had problems accepting the elimination of the time-expired code, despite supposedly diabling or using a registration provided earlier - it's been a while but the thread(s) on this should be around still. The manual is terrific and it would be fabulous if you could get this program to run!

I've finally finished up my DID scanning and have included a link to Allies & Adversaries in my top post, a really cool little color book shipped with F-22 ADF...

http://198.65.10.229/DID/ADF.JPG

It's also included as part of the TAW Manual, although abbreviated and in B&W.

I love this book, so much so that I hated to have the spine cut out for scanning. Fortunately, CDAccess still had at least one ADF box left (shipped yesterday, under $20.00 total) so I'll get the original back in one piece...

http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/f22didpr.htm

I wonder, like I suspect with TAW, if I grabbed their last copy (you can't trust "19 in Stock", it said that even before I ordered my first copy). I wish they had more TAWs for sale (IIRC, they went from "12 in Stock" to "Sold Out" right after I ordered my copy) as this is the last of any new DID boxes I know of for sale and at a reasonable price...

http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/totalair.htm

IIRC, I paid no more than $10.00 more for a new TAW and I feel this is a real shame...

Total Air War - 1 Used...from $99.98
http://www.amazon.com/AT-43531-TAWCDR-To...88475938&sr=8-1

...but of course you don't have to take that route. \:\)

Anyway, just as a heads up, if you want to own a piece of flight sim history with a cool book, grab yourself a brand new box of ADF while you still can.

mikew, I was away when you posted above, and was delighted to look back and see it. I realize time is precious, but absolutely look forward to any progress and success you have in getting the oh-so-promising Strategic Command to run, especially in or for the Windows version of EF2000. I say that slightly selfishly because that's the version that we can reliably fly co-op campaigns in, on line. And I think THAT would breathe some new life into EF2K.

Thanks again, and good luck!

Just a note that the F-22 Strategy Guide was updated by Gargantou to include PDF bookmarks.

Added Manteau's Hi-res (1024x768) patch.

Just a note that some graphics get off centered and others messed up (i.e. MFD in upfront panel). I think most if not all of this can be corrected in the ...\Huddle\ folder. For example, I think we can define new coordinates for the MFD screen. It'll be my next VB project, as with HUD Options but this time it'll be for the MFD file(s).

EDIT: Link updated with slightly newer version.

Hi. I remember long ago, downloading an Excel file of all the locations of ground targets in the Red Sea. Is the file still available? I kinda lost it in my old hard drives. This file was so useful that I can find the coordinate of a particular target & attack all of it with ease.
