Got it, thank you Rubini. I haven't looked at it yet but here's a download link for anyone who's interested...

Hello,

I managed to obtain a copy of "Strategic Falcon" for EF-2000 V2.0 DOS. I haven't managed to get a DOS set up recently but it is apparently a fairly extensive enhancement to the campaign and control system.

I have uploaded it to http://web.ncf.ca/ee555/

Thanks, Avimimus. This is Strategic Command by Flying Muffin, yes? We tried getting this to run but couldn't (think I downloaded it from your website). IIRC, Nephilim got the farthest with it but I think it kept crashing on him. I have a printout of the manual to read for the awe factor (assuming it actually worked as advertised).

I still haven't looked at the ADF campaign manager from Rubini, something came up, but I'll look it over tonight.

Nice! Been looking for this for the archives...and to see if maybe I can get it going on my older machine.

I would recommend changing the name to Strategic EF-2000 or Stategic Command for EF-2000 as there was another Flying Muffin product (which I bought and paid for back in the day...) for Falcon 3.0 called Strategic Falcon.

Neph and I tried very hard to get this to run on any version of EF, even on the EF it was originally designed for - the dos install. No luck. He did actually get it running briefly, but it would explode and create a mini blackhole when trying to actually use it. He and Hawk were drawn through the black hole event horizon and came out in the Falcon AF World.

It also had problems accepting the elimination of the time-expired code, despite supposedly diabling or using a registration provided earlier - it's been a while but the thread(s) on this should be around still. The manual is terrific and it would be fabulous if you could get this program to run!

This sounds like a challenge! I'll take a look at it when I get a chance.

I've finally finished up my DID scanning and have included a link to Allies & Adversaries in my top post, a really cool little color book shipped with F-22 ADF...

http://198.65.10.229/DID/ADF.JPG

It's also included as part of the TAW Manual, although abbreviated and in B&W.

I love this book, so much so that I hated to have the spine cut out for scanning. Fortunately, CDAccess still had at least one ADF box left (shipped yesterday, under $20.00 total) so I'll get the original back in one piece...

http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/f22didpr.htm

I wonder, like I suspect with TAW, if I grabbed their last copy (you can't trust "19 in Stock", it said that even before I ordered my first copy). I wish they had more TAWs for sale (IIRC, they went from "12 in Stock" to "Sold Out" right after I ordered my copy) as this is the last of any new DID boxes I know of for sale and at a reasonable price...

http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/totalair.htm

IIRC, I paid no more than $10.00 more for a new TAW and I feel this is a real shame...

Total Air War - 1 Used...from $99.98
http://www.amazon.com/AT-43531-TAWCDR-To...88475938&sr=8-1

...but of course you don't have to take that route. \:\)

Anyway, just as a heads up, if you want to own a piece of flight sim history with a cool book, grab yourself a brand new box of ADF while you still can.

mikew, I was away when you posted above, and was delighted to look back and see it. I realize time is precious, but absolutely look forward to any progress and success you have in getting the oh-so-promising Strategic Command to run, especially in or for the Windows version of EF2000. I say that slightly selfishly because that's the version that we can reliably fly co-op campaigns in, on line. And I think THAT would breathe some new life into EF2K.

Thanks again, and good luck!
