I'm not sure what can of worms I've opened here...
Anyway, in terms of single player gameplay there appears to be no difference between SEF2000 and EF2000 V2.0.
In MP though, on the surface the big difference is support for TEN (Total Entertainment Network). Whether this makes SEF2000 incompatible with EF2000 V2.0 in multiplay, I don't know.

Having briefly done a comparison, I think mikew is correct. Which has me wondering why this PDF of the Super EF2000 Manual is missing some very big features...

http://198.65.10.229/DID/SEF2000_Manual.pdf

Look at Manual page 36 (PDF page 38) or select Overview in the left margin. Compared with my V2.0 Manual, it's missing two very big features, Custom AA and the Mission Planner (plus all related text). I know those are in the game but I don't know why they're not in the Manual (at least not in this one)???

Heh! Beat me to it! I have a copy of REVIVE and have been meaning to post it, but haven't been at my home PC in a few days to upload it to my webspace and post a link. I have EFUTIL around somewhere too, but not handy, so Thanx for the DL.

Looks like the DYNAMIC DID DUO of Hawk and Neph didn't need these to complete their campaign with Lightning (or should I say TYPHOON) speed!

They do appear to be incompatible. I tested on my LAN with EF2000 V2 as host and SEF2000 as client. The client saw the game, and seemed to be able to join, but I never saw the Join from the Host screen, nor did the game launch on the Client Side.

I should do the POSITIVE control and make sure I can link up like for like as well.

One more somewhat disappointing development in their sim development and design. What's odd is that SEF came out last - so you would have thought the two Windows releases would have MP compatability.

This was probably already answered somewhere, but is SEF compatible with itself, IP to IP? or is it LAN only?

If this timeline is correct...

http://www.migman.com/ref/1990_combat/EF2000/versions.htm

...then wouldn't V2.0 have come out last?

I think you're correct, Mark. V2.0, is the U.S. version and came out last.
I think it's one of the few times the U.S. had to wait.
Of course, I could be wrong.

You're right - I switched them. My point though was that with one Windows MP version already out, why or how could they have made a newer Windows release - NOT compatible online, IP to IP? Makes no sense, without an explanation.

Also, looking in my 2.0 install, the windows exe is labeled: "superw.exe"
