How is it possible for Maverick to lock onto a human? It doesn't seem possible to me. You can see humans on the MFD like a white dot. You can lock onto it and fire the missile and it allways hits them without any problems. When humans get hit they explode like tanks or other vehicles. You can lock onto them with any Maverick: AGM-65B, AGM-65D and AGM-65G. AGM-65D and AGM-65G are infrared and you can better see humans than with a AGM-65B. The dot is better and cleaner with AGM-65D and AGM-65G. Is locking onto a humans a bug or what? Is it possible to lock onto humans in a real F-16?

AGM-65 has one type that can lock onto infrantry I think. It's optimized for small objects. But I'm not really sure. But you can't lock onto them using all AGM-65.

Well, you can in this simulation. AGM-65B is for locking onto small objects. It uses optical guidance instead of infrared and that is why it is used for locking onto small objects.

Sounds like a waste of a pretty expensive missle ... unless they are pointing a shoulder-mounted SA's at you.

Human on cool night ground, I see choppers on "Cops" using IR to track humans all the time. Hot day, maybe not? And I've seen them track cars with video tracker as well.

How effective are IR Mavs during the day would be my question. In AF, both IR and video work during the day. The AGM-65B can only see the new runway at night....HOOORRAYY.

More surprising is when you watch missiles hit human targets and get this in a debrief.

LOADOUT 3: AGM-65D
Starting Load 4
Fired 4
Missed 0
Hit 4
Event AGM-65D released at 18:20:51 hit AK47 - destroyed
Event AGM-65D released at 18:21:12 hit AK74 - damaged
Event AGM-65D released at 18:21:18 hit PKT-7 - damaged
Event AGM-65D released at 18:21:21 hit RPG-7 - damaged

"damaged"? 1200 times the _kinetic_ impact of a .50BMG round, not even including the warhead detonation, and the troops are "damaged"?

(note: that 1200 times is not "made up". I did the math.)

yah, as in, some of the unit destroyed.

What WW2 Fighter pilots say about Angels and Airspeed:

"Nice job of getting down to the basics - love your choice of a cover!" Col. Clarence 'Bud' Anderson

"I have enjoyed reading angels and airspeed, it should prove good reading for all interested in combat tactics and their application related to the fluid air environment and state of technology in WWII years. All the best as you make it available." - Col. Charles McGee - Tuskegee Airman

I think you got inaccurate hit on them. Try look closely on impact.
