Diario de Guerra del Radar Malvinas, by Mr. Miguel Angel Silva, about the TPS-43 radar installed in the islands and was used to guide the air attacks over the fleet, warning about SeaHarrier CAPs, helped with the release of the ground-based Exocet that hit HMS Glamorgan, was damaged by a Shrike in Black Buck 5 but repaired and back to work until end of the war.

Desde El Frente (From the Front) a detailed account about the intervention of the BATALLÓN DE INFANTERÍA DE MARINA Nº5 (translation would be 5th MARINE INFANTRY BATTALLION), in Malvinas (Falkland) Islands, in 1982. Written by the commander of the battallion and the collaboration of his Encargado de Batallón (it is roughly the person in charge of the battallion). Spanish only as far as I know.

Dios y los Halcones, ('God and the Hawks'), by Comodoro Pablo Marcos Rafael Carballo, in '82 was commanding officer of argentinean Grupo 5 de Caza, responsible for heavy losses inflicted in the Task Force, like HMS Coventry and the Fitzroy attack:

Unfortunately only in spanish language and so far released only in Argentina, together with its 'brother' book Halcones de Malvinas, it's the most comprehensive and complete account of the air war through the argentinean pilots perspective - Halcones also is built like a series of chronicles describing missions from A-4 Skyhawk pilots, as well as Mirage V Dagger, Pucará, Camberra, C-130 Hercules, helicopter and even air defense garrisons. I got my copy through a friend who travelled in vacations to Buenos Aires. Seems quite rare outside of South America.

"Dios y los Halcones" (God and the Hawks) and "Halcones sobre Malvinas" (Hawks over Malvinas) are not edited any more; but they were both compiled in "Halcones de Malvinas" (Malvinas' Hawks). The three books were written by Comodore (R) Pablo Marcos R. Carballo based in his own experiences in the conflict and other pilots experiences; mostly Mirage, A-4 and Pucará pilots.
I don't think there is any English translation of those books.
Halcones de Malvinas is by far my favourite book about Malvinas.
Another great book from the perspective of a transport/tanker pilot (C-130 Hercules) is "No apagues la luz cuando te vayas" (Don't turn of the light when you leave) that can also be bought from http://www.ediciones.argentinidad.com/libros.htm (another one not translated to English, and unfortunately, the writer passed away recently.

About the movies, "Iluminados por el fuego" (Blessed by Fire, or Lightened by Fire, depending on the translator) was scripted by a COWARD who refused to take his post as a guard and another heroic soldier died in his place The film is indeed very good and dramatic from the artistic point of view (not entirely realistic since some parts are ficticious), but I don't have any respect for the author.

Yeap, totally disregard "Iluminados por el fuego": written by a coward with intention to denigrate the argentine armed forces and their intrevention in the conflict, for political reasons.

A G-R-A-T-E book is "La guerra Inaudita" from Ruben Oscar Moro. A good objective view not onlly regardin the military operations that are describe oure by oure, but a fantastic reaserch work on the Geopolitical aspect of teh conflict including all it´s mayor players, includion the U.N. OAS, Th U.S. foreihgn and domestic policy and domestic UK policy that influenced Thacher´s and Galtieri´s decisions.

GADGET: the SHAR manual was contribution of a Sea Harrier veteran who told me to keep his name in secret. Mirage, Skyhawk etc are easily found at the Kiwi online flight manuals website. Chris Kasie is also contributing with extracts from AV-8A (Harrier Gr.1) flight manual which are handy as performance is essentially the same for Harrier Gr.3 and not too far from SHAR as well.

Pablo Diez: yep I was aware, indeed the movie make your country's army look bad as it's shown during whole movie in retreat or being slaughtered - but it's indeed a visually stunning movie and for me it was worth alone for the scene of the Sea Harrier rockets attack and the .50 caliber response from the soldiers - although it was a Sea Harrier with a white belly! not used in the conflict, they were all 'charcoal' painted up and down during the travel south! (nit-picking! ;))

Baco: Thanks for the link, I've updated the books list! There's also a brazilian book in two volumes, written by a brazilian general, it's very good and ubiased, it's obligatory lectured in officer's academies here, it's a very important subject for the armed forces here because a)Brazil and Argentina have similar sized armies b) very close frontiers c)last modern war with comparable forces on both sides, including navy and carriers and all that in both sides, unlike Iraq, Bosnia...the name of the book is "Conflito das Malvinas" I've bought in Mercado Libre it seens quite rare too.
