Mine are:

Tires can be punctured to make for hairy landings

Exhaust flame.

Heat shimmer from the guns rather than flame

Random failures, especially with the older more used aircraft.

Hydraulic/ pneumatics failure ( no gear, brakes, prop pitch etc)

Ammo belts getting shot in two. This could could cut the capacity from 200 rounds left, to 50 that can be fired

Different types of bullets and convergence. Was this a set standard, or could the RAF pilots choose what they wanted?

Oil spirts on the windsheild cover it with a time period of a couple of moments according to the airspeed. In IL2 now, it just appears.

Selectable fuel tanks

What are your wishes?

How interactive can we expect the terrain to be? I want to be able to bomb/strafe ground targets like bridges and buildings and see them crumble and burn...in game, in real time.

Please Oleg make bridge destruction realistic!
You practically breathe on them now and they go down, even if you miss by a hundred yards.

More different specific malfunctions from battle damage as described in the original post would be excellent, but I am would not enjoy random failures, it just does not make for fun gameplay to me.

Things like oiled windscreens on the 109 and Ki-61 that do not happen to most other planes REALLY needs addressing! (unless historically it was a major problem with certain plane types)

Buildings and bridges burning and destroying over time as in LOMAC would be very cool.

Different ground effects for different terrain would be nice, kicking up the same dust cloud on a concrete runway as on a dirt field is weird.

SECONDARY EXPLOSIONS! (Preferably varied in size intensity and delay)

REWORK THE ENGINE FIRE ROUTINES! They are so predictable now. The engines ALWAYS relighting after a short time is also bogus even when it is shut down and feathered.

Client adjustable settings for view distances on effects! Having smoke and fire appear suddenly at 2K is a real immersion killer. I have made test maps with thousands of fires in Berlin to simulate fire bombing attacks and have almost no framerate hits when flying through the midst of it, but the game makes them all disappear at 2k no matter what. A vis distance setting in the ini file would be great.

Just my thoughts... hope Oleg reads these!

It'd be cool if you got blurred vison when injured enough, maybe fading in and out \:\)

The main thing I really really want is self shadowing and reflective surfaces both of which would massively alleviate the whole invisible planes problem somewhat I reckon \:\)

We allready have an alteration in view when wounded. The screen turns slightlly red. The more wounded the redder it gets. It´s kind of bland as an efect, but at least you do get wounded.

Now what would really be a brakethrough would be to black out faster when puling G´s.

Secondary explosions are a must.
Bridges, yes, absolutely they need to be tougher.

Water puddles on runways, that spray when crossed, would be a nice touch. And perhaps a flare from the tower for those "gear-up" landings, ala BoB movie. And as things progress, perhaps some searchlights on the heavies for uboat hunting..oops, forgot they're not flyable yet...did someone say depth charges? Sorry, too much SH3 lately \:\)

plane reflections at distance (especially nice for folks that don't like icons)

black exhaust when a plane is firewalled

cockpit smoke

I know Baco, but it'd be very cool if it used shader effects like some of the shooters do, BF2 when near explosions is what I'm thinking to simulate smoke in the face and watering eyes etc etc, and maybe just a bit of general blurring when in pain \:\)

Smoke and lots of it.

I want to see towering clouds of persistant smoke like you see in WW2 photos. None of this fires going out after 30secs crap like we have now.

I also want some decent shock absorbers on my plane to stop the pogoing around on landing that we have now. That's more of a physics thing though.

nice ideas \:\)

What streaks on the canopy when flying in the rain would be nice.

The blue/ grey smoke produced when the 109 noses over to get away.

Cockpit fires. Or would that be too grusome?

Yes more smoke effects! especially from aircraft exhaust, as well as flame from the stacks under the right engine settings, that would be most excellent at night.

Ricocheting bullets would also be awesome, nearly every actual strafing movie you watch has large numbers of tracers ricocheting off at all angles after impacting, although this would tie up needed net code, unless they were just added on client side as random graphical representations that did no damage after striking the target.

Clean canopies on all planes please! It is disappointing to have a plane with dirty plexiglass while other planes that were of inferior manufacturing have crystal clear camopies....

Opening canopies on all planes!

I mentioned earlier new random routines for engine fires and making it so they do not always relight, but also make some fires not go out no matter what speed you are going (randomly).

Wind driven smoke effects! Also much longer duration of smoke/fire for destroyed vehicles as mentioned earlier.

The most important thing to me will be large numbers of planes with much better mid to long distance views. ( by better I don't mean more small details...but to be able to see the shape of the plane and not just a dot) The ability to lean out of the cockpit when taxiing. A more immersive user interface.

The ability to make skins in a format other then 8 bit .bmp. The extra area will mean bugger all if we can't actually get more colours into the matte. Oh, and the ability to do true reflective metal...

Just curious Goodwood, do you think we would have to get two different "model sets" for each plane, and have one dedicated just for the "true reflective" effects? I'm not familiar with the 3d modeling game, but wonder if a reflectively mapped nmf P38, for example, could still be "painted" without displaying the intensity of the metallic effects. You've got a great idea there, would be great to see it happen. In fact, I see a lot of great ideas in this thread

Only three I want;

AI that can't see through clouds or aircraft parts.

AI that don't instantly know you are behind them when you reach your gun-convergence distance

Rear gunners who shoot like humans, not superman.

Alexi, don´t mean to start a discussion, but Humans on line shoot ten times better than IA.
Humans can predict direction of flight, IA can´t. ;\) .

On the other two, I absolutlle agree and I belive Oleg said soemthing about it being adressed allready.

two Must have Effects now, that I hope that have been implemented allready, or will be very soon:
- Permanent damage on runways.
- a way to set dammage to runways in the FMB.
- a way to set damage to ships in the FMB. (this is so we can carry over the damage done to a fleet in one mission to the other...)
