Since I am an obvious noob here, I have another question. I have noticed that there are a couple of other noobs here and I was wondering if a running thread would help anyone else or would be of any interest to those of you who are vets. It doesn't embarass me at all to show my noobness and probably gives some of you a few laughs.

It would probably end up being a long thread and added to constantly as I try to learn new things. For those of you tired of my posts, it would limit them to one thread so you could skip over it easily :p

EDIT: Ok this is the LOMAC for Dummies thread. If you enjoy watching a noob make an a$$ out of himself, this is the thread for you. There will tracks posted for you to watch and if you are a noob like myself, you can fly them yourself and join in any time you want. Ask questions or add your own experiences. For you vets, feel free to jump in at any time with advice. I will keep all my questions in this thread and it will be ongoing from the viewpoint of a LOMAC noob.

I expect this to be a longggggg thread over quite a period of time.

I think you'll find a little less of the n00b bashing than you find at other sites. Since simming is a little more mature, we tend to act like it, well every once in awhile I guess \:D

LOL I see that even in these forums. The IL2 forum is less forgiving than this one and they are on the same boards. Everyone here has been super helpful and Colt40five especially. Dr. Shocker was extremely nice in setting up his Nav/ILS thread for me also.

I was amazed at the people who offered to help when I said how frustrated I was. There are a lot of resources here and since I really can't help others yet, I thought one running thread could be a good reference point them so it would be helping them in a way that I could.

I honestly feel that the LOMAC community is wonderful and that excites me as much as the game does.

One day I hope that a squadron takes me under their wing (pun intended) but I am not ready for that yet as I still have to much to learn. I just want to learn piece by piece at this point. It's much easier doing it that way for me. Once I understand one thing, I will be ready for the next.

If you're gonna make this the noob thread change the title to something reflecting that.

In response to what you should do now that you have nav and landing down in the A-10. Well, you can go one of two ways. Either you can stick with the A-10 and begin to practice employing weapons, or you can go to one of the fast movers (maybe the F-15) and practice navigation and landing in it.

If you want, once you decide what you're going to do, I can make you another training sortie.

Destructis, if time permits I'll post more screens to help walk you through whatever questions you have. Feel free to ask. The hardest part sometimes is to admit you don't know very much and you've already gone past that.

As much as I want to do the F-15, I think it best that I learn to crawl before I try to walk. I am better off learning the weapons systems for the A-10. Something simple, a couple of targets with nothing firing back at me...LOL. Keeping the take offs, nav points and landings as part of it would be good also. I think that it would better to incorporating new stuff to what I know would be the best way to keep proceeding. Could you do it with a different airstrip also, only because it would probably be better for me so I don't get locked into one landing path. I think it would help me develop better skills. Will go back and edit my first post and the title in just a bit.

LOL wayyyy past that. Jump in any time the mood strikes you. Different viewpoints are always good and you might have different ideas on ways to show me things.

Any other noobs, feel free to jump in with your questions and fly the missions Colt makes. Also post your tracks if you like because seeing other people fly the same things will probably help. Also feel free to download my tracks and watch them.

Laughing at me is permitted, I have a thick skin and don't mind. \:\)

Okay different airport, a few waypoints, targets that don't shoot back....no problem. I'll whip something up for you this evening.

I'll set it up in such a way that you can use the same mission and just change the loadout to practice different weapons. Do you need a track of me doing it first like the last one, or do you think you can just run with it on your own?

Since this is a noobish thread, I think I'm allowed to ask a noobish question, am I not? \:D

I don't know if this has been implemented in LOMAC but I remember reading somewhere that Russian aircraft, according to Russian air combat doctrine, have a cockpit selector for simultaneous two-missile launches, that is, to launch one semi-active and one IR-guided missile at the same time to improve PK (Probability of Kill). Is this option available in LOMAC?
