I'm not sure wether that post was to start a discussion about the validity of Immelmanns famous turn. Its more about the attitude of virtual pilots.

nice one !!
and an important one, because as a German fighterpilot you will be the most time sitting in an Albatross in WW1 1917-1918 \:D

its like the 109 in WW2 ;\)

I notice it is an AlbDIII cockpit.

Was there really any difference between an Alb DII, III or V pit?

yes, there was some difference
BUT
this pit is made "as close lookin to D.V`s" cause of luck of time, BUT (again) it was done with facts based on Albatros D.III (OAW) Polish Manual (they use it after WWI) - it have almost same controls/stick instruments set as D.V.

So to answer on your question about difference - its almost noone diiferense (for our sim) exept the fuselage shape.

Salute

A completely original Albatros DVa exists at the Smithsonian instititute. There is also AFAIK an original one at the Australian War Museum.

Smithsonian:

On the other hand, there is no original DIII in existence.

However:

a) A DIII cockpit would be very similar to the DV and DVa.

b) WWI Aircraft of the same type often had different cockpit layouts, especially if they were manufactured at a different workshop. (no mass production, remember... Henry Ford was yet to invent the assembly line)

I have a history book or mag somewhere with a SPAD that saw service in Russia IIRC, the model A2.

Here is pics (click the links for the picture plural) and some data:

http://wmilitary.neurok.ru/spad.2.html

See Dart, with that one you have your SPAD and DH-2 combined!
