A copy of some from the Gameranger thread by Roller and Jel:
Works like a dream!
No setup issues!
I could not get my system running online any other way - using GameRanger, not only could i join a game, i could also host games.
I see no reason why gameranger should not work with any version of EAW. as long as the host and the players have the same exe versions and files.

No lag- excellent framerates!

http://www.gameranger.com/TO SETUP GAMERANGER:
Run the install and follow the promts. You will need to setup this account with a valid email.
When installed (very simple) open the application.
Go to the file menu > EDIT > OPTION > GAMES: European Air War
The first time that you try and join a hosted EAW game, you will also be asked to navigate to your (matching) version of the EAW executable on your hardrive. Warnings will appear if a player has a different executable to the host.
When i attempted to join my first game, i suffered a black screen lock, but when the host exited and allowed me out, I was able to allow a warning exception prompt that VISTA firewall threw up. This happened three times, then I had no further warnings or problems.
I feel a lot happier being able to fly with VISTA firewall on!
We used TS for voice because the ingame client was not as loud or clear as we wanted, but this may be due to our limited knowledge of the system.
