Hi

I'm hosting my own games on a dedicated box (Yes, I bought 2 copies for just such an adventure)

Cable modem, excellent up/down speed.

My game machine is 192.168.1.102

Server is .103

Ports are good.

HyperLobby folks seem to get in OK

I can't seem to get into my own game via HyperLobby.

I can if I go in via the local IP

Is this an issue with Falcon not allowing the use of the same IP?

Any dedicated server tips one can share?

The Falcon series' MP code requires that each host and client have an unique IP address over internet. On a LAN, you have two unique addresses. What you cannot do is have a mix of WAN and LAN addresses as some sims allow. You need two public IPs if you are going to host on one IP and join with another over internet.

You either have to get a second public IP from your ISP for additional cost (like $8/mo) or set up a virtual LAN over WAN via HAMACHI.

HAMACHI will require every client (and the host) to be connected to the same HAMACHI virtual network starting with the same 3 octets, where each client has its own 4th octet IP.

This would be a good feature for LP next generation product, that being allowing both LAN and WAN IPs to share in the same hosted session.

damn right we do.

Paul - check on that extra IP and throw that dedicated box (suitably secured) on that other IP direct on the net - will solve all your MP problems.

I figured that was the issue. I recall some other online games not being able to support two players using the same IP

I'll just keep connecting the way I am since I'm the only person affected.

My RoadRunner internet runs very well, since I am literally up the road from a major backbone (fiber!)

I've also stacked the deck in my favor. Every summer, all the neighbors have a big neighborhood pig roast. Since they know Im a bank IT person, they ask which is better, the local DSL offerings or Road Runner. I tell them how horrible the cable connection is, so they all go DSL. More bandwidth for me (insert sly Scooby Doo laugh) \:\)

I'll put up my Dedicated Server up again tonight, look for a CheckSix! server in HyperLobby.

Also...does anyone know when HyperLobby will allow you to select the new Desert Storm Campaign?

It's old methodology.

I would guess it won't happen until it's an official recognised mod.
