What has happened to the Falcon 4 HQ site forum? I thought that this game was still very much alive and well but seems to be fading away recently. Hope I'm wrong. Perhaps everyone has gone elsewhere.

DPS.

Well, when good falcon sites keep getting hacked, sometimes the effort required to keep stuff alive combined with a lot of RL work just isn't possible to do.

This last hacker may have compromised the database, so RB is unsure the previous posts etc. can be salvaged.

Shame really.

People are hacking Falcon pages? Forums? Why? I honestly don't know what's wrong with some of the people in the sim community, but I suppose we're just a subset (subspecies? \:D \:o ) of humanity and there are a few bad apples out there. People should spend more time having fun with their sim and less time hacking forums and arguing amongst themselves.

I think some well-placed JDAMs are in order...

Im very interested in kicking off a Falcon 4 BBS. Im building a new server for hosting the game too. I dont know anything about it but Im willing to learn. If anyone has any suggestion please post it. I do have plenty of questions if anyone knows anything about it?

Can I put a BBS and game host on the same system? What kind of hardware firewall is the best to use to avoid these problem hackers? And any suggestions as to BBS software would be good to know too.

I was wondering why the F4HQ site Forum kept showing error 404 page not available. I knew it was hacked back around April 2006. Damned hackers need to get a life, or a few cluster munitions sent to their location.

Currently I am following a course, which requires from me that I study during the evenings after I come home from work. This means that I have at this moment no time to keep an eye on a forum. As you understand, a forum is not something that you can keep unattended. While I am responsible for the content of my own forum, every person on the world can post messages. Although there are volunteers, who help me keeping the bad guys out, I still have to be available to make final decisions. If a person does not follow the rules of my forum then usually I read all the recent posts, and sometimes entire threads. This means that I always have to be available for at least an hour per day. Most likely in March I will have that time again and most likely I will then put a forum online again. Currently the little free time that I have, I want to spent with family and friends.

Thanks for that Razorblade. It would be nice to see the forum back on line.

Can't get on to Frugals for some reason. Looks like I will have to go through their administrator.

I only view this (SimHQ) forum...I've tried the others and after the pop-up and spyware assaults, decided "No thank you".

I have my own forums with lots of topics, but we mostly debate silly current things or chat about WW2 sims. But, have at if you wanna check it out.

Probably as hackers think they are real smart, but use the smarts to spoil other peoples fun.
I'd like to see a mandatory 10 year jail term for hackers that are caught. Either that or just shoot them and save on tax dollars.
