As the title says I cant get AF to run on my computer. The sad part is 6 months ago it worked fine and for the life of me I don't know why it wont now. As soon as I launch the game it locks up. The music plays but in the task manager shows AF going right to "Not responding" before my screen even goes black. I have tried adding the -nomovie switch to the exe, and adding "gi_SkipIntro=1" to the global config file to stop the intro movie from running but neither of those options have fixed the problem. I have also tried 5 different VC drives thinking that I might be that as well with the same results. I have made sure that AA is set to off. If anyone has any ideas on what I should try please let me know. I have done a reinstall of my OS with in the last three weeks and have a minimal of additional programs on it. My system specs. AMD X2 4800, ASUS A8N-E Bios version 1011, EVGA 7800GTX, Creative Labs X-Fi Fatal1ty, 1 gig PC3500 DDR. Assorted HD's and optical drives. Running XP Pro with SP2.

Reinstall and Patch to 1.09 and that should do it.

You missed my point. AF (and Falcon) is a SIMULATION. As you were.

Guess to fix the issue is try disbaling your sound board and using the on baord sound to see if that resolves it.

You can call it want ever you want I'm just trying to get it to run on my system. It was my understanding that lead Pursuit uses SimHQ's forum as their support forum so that is why I'm asking here.

No I have AA turned off and don't even get the blinking cursor just a black screen.

Tip from another thread. Check your refresh rate for your monitor. No gaurantee's but turn it down to 85 or less and see if that helps.

Hmm, now that could be an issue.

I don't think so since at one time AF has run on this moniter and video card as well as other flavors of Falcon 4.

Hammer you were right about the sound card. Thanks for your help.

Somehow the Creative X-Fi doesn't seem to want to work together well with Falcon, we had reports from different people with that sound card - for whatever reason. I just ordered one myself (the "Extreme" version though, not the Fatality) and will have a look what happens.
