Having completed my first Balkans campaign I decided to try one of the Korean theatres. I have since discovered that when near an airbase the FPS becomes unbearably slow (3-4FPS). I have tried changing the graphics settings and tried different air bases, all with the same results! I never had a problem in any of the Balkans theatres. Is there something different in the Korean theatre?

update your RAM to 1024mb, or more.

btw, does it really work normally in balkans???

there is the same topic on the bootom, somebody says that it possible to solve by updating nvidia drivers to latest version. but im not shure that it will decide this...

I suppose it could be a RAM issue but I just didn't understand why the problem only occurs when I am in a korean theatre and is absolutely fine in the Balkans. I have tried flying from 3 or 4 airbases in Korea and they are all unplayably slow

Are you running with the latest patch? Do you have trees turned on in addition to running with anti-aliasing?

Try turning off trees and shadows in the Settings page. Also reduce tecture quality from Ultra to the one level below that. That should really help FPS.

The reason these settings cause problems is because they're effectively rendered by the CPU in many ways -- AF is not based on DX 9 for graphics. That'll change completely with our next product which will be fully DX 9 / 10 compliant.

Edit: turn off FSAA too -- that causes a real hit at airbases.

Thanks for your help guys. Will try these settings next time. Just out of interest, is there a reason I only have this problem in Korea?
C3PO - At the risk of me sounding stupid what is FSAA? Is that anti aliasing?

I could be wrong, because the last time I flew the Balkans Theater (beta)in SP3 it also gave better framerates than the Korean theater. That was because the Balkans was a lot less lightly populated with 3D objects and aircraft at that time and had less total action in the overall war. Therefore less load on CPU and better framerates.

Now AF comes along and I think it has even more 3D objects in the Korean Theater. Also pretty heavy aircraft activity at bases. It would be surprising if it (Balkans) didn't give better framerates than Korea.

Thanks for the feedback beartrax. I tried all the things c3po suggested apart from turning off the anti-aliasing but i didn't notice any real difference. Can someone tell me how i turn the anti-aliasing off as I can't see an option for it.
