Any Reason to use it in the 2D pit? The delayed snapping to the views is more of a pain than it is worth and I lack the ability to recenter. Is it just me? 3D is dandy.

Yeah I don't like it either but in the meantime follow Frugal's advice:

The TrackIR and snapping effect in F4:AF is a product of the 2D cockpit and not our device. It works flawlessly in the 3D cockpit. But after playing in the 2D cockpit a little bit I got used to it. Thanks to the LP team for even giving the option of snapping with the 2D cockpit.

why can't it break down your head position to corrisponding views. ie turn my head 15deg to the side means I want the 45deg view, etc. So that when I center my head the view centers as well? I don't think it is impossible to do.

I would like to just disable it in 2d . It was possible in other incarnations of Falcon.

Jar the 3D pit is not bad:

Looks nice and the HUD is clear. Aside from not being clickable, do most of the gauges/FMDs function?

That 3D pit is one heck of a step up from what I remember in vanilla F4. I assume it's Aeyes work as well?

The 3d pit was horrible in the original. Is this 3d pit comparable to ones in Lomac and the IL2 series? I would spend most of my time in the 3d pit with a track IR 3 pro that I want to get the most out of. Better still, any links to movies that show the 3d pit??

You're a better man than I am when saying ..."after playing in the 2D cockpit a little bit I got used to it." I just can't get used to it. I'm not a software programmer or artist like Aeyes, but can you see or forecast down the road,... that Aeyes can upgrade his 3D pit to make it more functional & clickable like the 2D pit, or conversly make the current 2D pit work with TrackIR like the 3D pit?

Maybe Aeyes or someone from Lead Pursuit can provide a answer to this question.
