ALCON:

Let me say this first and foremost. This is not, in any way, an attempt to replace the SimHQ - Longbow2 forum. However, I have created a private, by invitation only, Longbow2 Community (Using the DeskNow Collaboration Software) at http://lb2.no-ip.info - The intent is to let everyone post on a public calendar, dates and times you have available for flight so others may see it. There is also a community instant messaging system to allow texting directly to other members currently at the site (which would be great in setting up flights on the fly).

Other features include:

An email account (username@lb2.no-ip.info)

A public forum

Private and shared file storage (200M)

Private and shared contacts

And other things I have yet to discover.

I have used everyones SimHQ username as your username and password for this community (Shadow=ASP= your username is just Shadow). The first time you enter, you will have to change your password. Now, being on the HONOR system, those listed below have access to this community:

CrashIII
BobbyC
Widowmaker
Malulo
Fuzzy
Hatchet
AV8R
Franze
Shadow=ASP=
PattyMan2001
ThePunisher
Eugene
Birdbrain
Scruff
H4RM
ChronoPilot
Thrawn
ID42928110
Wired
DKM
Col_Klink
VonWolfman
Reticuli
Homer
INSPECTOR
Reverent
Ms.Doolittle

IF you cannot log in, then someone has hijacked your username - especially since I am posting all of this publicly. PM me here at SimHQ and I will reset your login information provided you give me another password to use.

Everyone has seven days to login or else the account will be deactivated.

Thanks,

Duck out

Wow. I like it alot.
Need to fiddle around some and see how much I can screw up for myself, but it does indeed look very useful.
Thank you

edit: You have scheduled and event for tonight at 21:00GMT.
Was that a test or do we really fly tonight?

I put tomorrow's fly-in (Saturday) on it, although not sure if it is all properly set up. Also tried to use the e-mail reminder 30 minutes prior to show time. Thanks again Duck!

No, you did'nt let us sign in. But I've fixed it (I hope).
Update!
It is fixed now. Everyone just click on accept when they receive the email and we're cleared for take-off.

OK, here's my excuse. I'm at 7,200 feet above sea level. So I've got about half the oxygen you guys have at sea level. Basically, on the edge of asphyxiating much of the time as the brain starves. So my IQ is about 50% of everyone elses.

Checking the calendar and a large number of e-mails at the site: at least in my version which seems unstable (doesn't like Win98), the message times and calendar were different and wrong in each.

So just in case, we've told most everyone it is 3 pm or 1500 EST. EST is GMT-5.

The 1st Calvary website has linked the following resources:
- an interactive calendar
- link to SimHQ/LB2 forum
- Java based live chat
- link to Mags TS2 server

Use either the link in my signature or this one:
http://users.adelphia.net/~fsimav8r/1stcalvary/comms.htm

I found that people didnt choose to make much use of these. Perhaps this online format of Outlook calendar and email will draw more interest. Thanks for setting it up.

Regarding synching Outlook displayed time zones:
- Assuming the person inputting the event has his/her timezone set up correctly, then when each of us do likewise, we will see the events in the appropriate time zone for each user.

To set up your timezone in Outlook, go to:
LEFT UPPER NAV PANE
PREFERENCES
DATE AND TIME
TIMEZONE (PST for -8GMT in my case in CA USA)

As a result, I see the Sat event starting at 1PM PST and going until 10PM PST. Hopefully this is correct.

AV8R,

Hey rgr on the Time Zone, I see the Sat event at 2PM to 11PM MST.

I should also let everyone know the best view of the calendar is to set your personal preference view of the calendar to "Month" instead of "Day". I just don't think anyone will use this calendar as their personal daily schedule.

Yeah, every time we changed the time and every time Ducky logged in as admin the times would change. Every time the time changes a new email is sent out to everyone. Just hit accept on the latest email. It has the correct time and date. Also dont forget to select the correct timezone for your in your account preferences.

I just logged in for the first time and I'm all set up. Thanks Duck. I'll take a closer look around the site when I have more time.

I will only give 5 days for previously invited users to log in to the community site. Beginning 11MAR06, all members who have not logged in will have their account removed.

For those who have already signed in, you are good and your account will remain unchanged.

Thanks

Only one day remains before I disable the invitation accounts that have not been logged in to.

I have also noticed no one has used the "Files" section (other than downloads). Everyone has 200Meg for use in sharing things like missions and Longbow2 related files. Use it if it fancies you.

The message board (I don't know why they were closed to begin with) is now available for posting.

Thanks everyone

Ducky,

My Outlook is set for my timezone (-8gmt, USA PST) and the Saturday appointment set by Shadow is coming up at 10pm at night instead of at noon my time.

There is something out of whack here.
