Well, if all goes well, v2.12 will have a slightly enhanced help function in the campaign screen
to accompany the new campaign functionality. At that point, I will hopefully have enough of a
handle on how the file is edited to entertain the idea of a significant augmentation. The question
is then, if one were playing a campaign, what sort of additional information would one like to
be able to pull up from inside the campaign screen to help with decisions? Is there any text that
could be cribbed from the manual which would be of use there, or anything else? I don't know if
I would be able to manage images, that will have to be determined. One possibility would be a
section of information specific for the Single Pilot Campaign, which is currently completely
unsupported in the help file. All this is still contingent on me successfully convincing the
current edits to fold themselves into the game properly; this seems to be going well, but there
is always the possibility of surprises. Anyway, if I am successful, the way should be clear to
contemplate this as a project for v2.13.

Gents,

It's still early morning yet but no evidence of Maypole Dancing so far. A grey, wet day with only a noticeable increase in temperature to separate it from the wettest April for one hundred years. darkcloud

Folks,

Dux:

Not to put too fine a point on it old sod but if you should see an inanimate May Pole or any other type of pole dancing other than a Pole from Poland I'd swear off alcohol for a few days. Hmmmmm. Maybe not. That might simply trade dancing May Poles with dancing pink elephants or worse. Stop shaking your noggin LeRoy. The sun is over the yardarm.... somewhere. Pour us another tall one. Now Dux tell me more about these dancing May Poles.

I remember dancing 'round the old May Pole in grammar school. That would have been in the early 50's. All that came to a screeching halt with the coming of the cold war of course.

After several unseasonably cool days we have a sultry day today. We have lots of sun and temps climbing into the high 80's F. Thunder storms are expected later today. Temps rising into the 90s F. are expected Friday and Saturday. Remembering those long weeks of temps over 90 last summer I am concerned. The record for hottest day in May was set back in 1945. The summer that followed that May was not one of record heat however so there is hope.

FYI. C51 and his lady have safely returned from their travels abroad. He was able to discuss the war with several of his wife's older family members. There was a single huge bomb crater just on the outskirts of the small town of Ratingen where they were visiting. C51 went out and took a look at it. Either the bomber's aim was off (probably a Lanc he said)or it had simply jettisoned the bomb. He was told the town had no military target.

Gents,

JRT,

Ratingen would have copped for a fair amount of fall-out being in the middle of an area skirted by Dusseldorf, Duisberg, Essen, Wuppertal etc., all prime Bomber Command targets throughout the war. Anyone brave enough to stand out and view any busy night would have had to contend with falling aircraft, flak fragments, aircraft ammunition and stray bombs and incendiaries. What stories they would be able to tell!

Here's What Happened...

Courtesy of a chocaholic:

Mr Cadbury met Miss Rowntree on a Double Decker.
It was just After Eight.
They got off at Quality Street.
He asked her name. 'Polo, I'm the one with the hole' she said with a Wispa.
I'm Marathon, the one with the nuts, he replied.
He touched her Creme Eggs which was a Kinder Suprise for her.
Then he slipped his hands into her Snickers which made her Ripple.
He fondled her Jelly Babies and she rubbed his Tic Tacs.
Soon, they were Heart Throbs.
It was a Fab moment when she screamed in Turkish Delight.
But, three days later, his Sherbet Dip began to itch.
Turns out Miss Rowntree had been with Bertie Bassett and he had Allsorts.

In the fine tradition of The Savoy Truffle I think, where you have to have them all pulled out.

Folks,

LOL. I get it. Even though I do not recognize all the brand names it has provided me with plenty of food for thought.

Thinking of food makes me hungry. Unfortunately because there are two insatiable cake holes residing here that devour every scrap of candy, cake or confection that makes its way in the house there is not a sweet crumb, slice, piece or drop that I can lay my greedy fingers on.

Dux:

I have just posted a 'pithy' comment on your cigarette case 'thwead'.

JRT,

Thanks for resurrecting that thread. I hope to add to it in due course. smile

Jens. Delicious track! I have been thrashing Paul McCartney concerts on the Tube regularly for several months now. I particularly like the Hyde Park gig in June 2010.

Folks,

Dux:

The further removed in years one may be from an individual, even a heroic relative, the less precious his or her prized possessions are to us I guess. Add the constraints of the economy and the resulting need or urge to make a buck or two from the dusty pile of mostly forgotten pieces moldering in cardboard boxes in the attic must be irresistible.

Sadly there are many people today who only have a vague knowledge regarding WW2 and the sacrifice so many made. Too many know only what they see in so called graphic novels, in moviers or on TV. It isn't real to them. Distant relatives wearing their old fashioned uniforms are no more than faded photographs found in a box in the attic or if they are lucky in a photo album left behind by a father or mother. No doubt some items end up in trash heaps for their value seems to the unaware be nil. It is therefore fortunate indeed that at least a few artifacts fall into the hands of those who will once again value, treasure and protect them. Someone such as yourself.

Forgive me this personal note.

Today we celebrate our first Mother's Day without my dear Lady "T". All days are good days of course. Some days are just a lot better than are others. Today will be a good day for me and my son. A day for remembering so many good things.

Gents,

JRT, Jens, PV1 and all...

My latest RoF ace, Major Tony Meehan DSO MC&Bar DSC, has reached 103 victories which seems a reasonable number to end his operational career on. I'll shunt him off to GHQ to join the 'pink gin' brigade.

Strangely, he didn't receive another gong after about 45 victories so I think they owe him a bar to the DSO and a VC.

Downloaded a massive 2.2G upgrade yesterday but the only new thing I've noticed so far were several Airco DH4s stooging around the airfield.

Mothers Day reminds me of Fathers Day years ago when my kids would ask for money to buy me presents. I think I gave them money for Mother's presents too...
