Any chance of a alpha test we can play b4 Christmas ? Looking at the hover video really looks like its coming on great. One thing, the water, is it erm FS9 or more IL2 ?

Keep up the good stuff.

Unfortunately, this is impossible, because we're working with just one coder (Steve) and he didn't want to work with more coders remotely, so it's taking ages and possibly much more than my rather optimistic expectations ...

At the moment, it is more IL-2 (original, not FB or PF). Still not been able to integrate any advanced graphics code yet (pixel/vertex shaders), reason: check first paragraph. But this is eyecandy we could add later, hopefully. ;\)

*wonders how close to Steve he lives and wonders if copious beers would get a preview... ;\)

Take your time guys, I am amazed at how quickly things are progressing given that it's a part time project for you all.

Dano.

steve lives in wigan. maybe JT 2004 could be released for fun? the exe where you can take off and land from carrier - its soundless and uses a half done skyhawk cockpit as place holder for the harrier.

but yeah im a jealous facist with the source code as dante points out :p

other than that i'd have little objection to releasing what we have to the currious. though it would be nice in this build to put back object-object collision (actually be able to land on a place holder carrier) thats been commented out.

much of it is scriptable and remains in modable form so some of the clever ones might play with the fm and cockpit scripts.

there are just some embarrasing things still like you can fire a missile at an ai bot and it will fall to bits but its core object still flies or something like that.

This is something that gonna change or in 2007 we'd be still far from anything complete. :p

Speaking in changes, I'm busy prototyping shaders stuff in another tech kindly offered for us - of course it doesn't means dropping current tech as it would cause big impact on project flow now, but we should somehow integrate both things with Steve becoming less and less a jealous fascist ;\) (well this new tech's been a nice emergencial alternative source in the case, for example, of Steve getting ran over by a bus or something like that lol)

yeah, i think its time to open project out to more coders. i suppose i've been worried about somebody aquiring and utilising the code for other projects, especially ones that compete in same areas.

But i got full time job now programming, thanks to fran of SimHQ for getting me a job. so i'll be needing help to make this game a reality. especially if it was to be a cutting edge thing: we really need somebody who is interested in flightsims and can program excellent 3d stuff. we might be able to pay soon(tm).

Wow, Fran actually got you a job? That is way cool! It was I that pointed out Jet Thunder to him and asked if he maybe could offer some help, as he is in a position to do so. Nice going there!

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

New Year's Resolution, Steve? ;\)

P.S.: Fran and semmern, thanks very much for helping Steve with a decent job, now perhaps he will learn one thing or two about how games are made in the industry, team-wise ;\)
