Do any of you out there have the PC Dash 2? If you have one, how do you like it? I thought it looked kinda cool...

Hey Reload, I got one last November and use it together with my MS Sidewinder Precision Pro fro EECH - and I absolutely love it! Much better than learning all those keys... It installed without hitch - it was my first USB device, now it coexists with an USB modem. Quite easy to program, too. Btw, there's a review of it somewhere here in SimHQ and there was a discussion of the review in the Hardware forum.

HOTAS boy! HOTAS , not HAOTS (hands all over the shop) for just a bit more than the dash you can get a HOTAS system setup maybe the X36 thingie , or contribute it to the kinky thrustmaster HOTAS system comming up

Unfortunately around here, the X36 is double the price, not "just a bit more". Nevertheless I'm thinking about getting the new X45 when it's out - the Cougar is way out of what I'm willing to pay for toys But even with a HOTAS I will hang on to my Dash2. It is just too nice to have keys with their functions written or painted on them - especially for someone with a declining memory

VolkerB,Cool! That's what I wanted to hear. I have the Saitek X36-combo ( HOTAS) and although I don't need the PC dash I think it could be fun. Have you made a over-lay/ face-plate thing for yours? I think that would be half the fun of it really... That's it I'm getting one! Any advice or suggestions are still welcome so please, tell me more.

I have had a pc dash 2 since they became avaible in the US. I use it with my Saitek x36/x35 usb. I can say it works well with EECH, F/A 18, F4, to name just a few sims. I am also using SGE 3.0 as it has some things that SGE 2.3 does not. Printing out the overlays is easy and nice and because the pc dash 2 can be programmed with a shift button you can double up and even triple up the commands assigned to it. Well worth the money spent. Loading the configs is easy because you have both the x36 and p8000 under the same config folder so adding the commands is done once. I use the "configure game now" command vs the auto configure but its only done once as well.
Such a long long time to be gone, such a short time to be there.

You're absolutely right there! I think I spent almost more time on making the overlay than on the button layout Here's the overlay: Btw, with SGE 3.0 the LEDs around the hat change their color depending on the shift state. I'm still using the SGE version that came with the DASH2 - this version doesn't have that nice feature. [This message has been edited by VolkerB (edited 10-02-2001).]

VolkerB, that looks great! I'm inspired now to design a layout. Thanks again, my mind will be rolling this over all day for sure.

Volker I'd say "Pause" looks pretty grubby, can't make my mind up about the second. Would it be "request assistance"? You ought to be one hot pilot, what with all those "driver aids" - Saitek X36, dash 2, subwoofer, understanding wife...this is the green-eyed monster, signing out for now...

"Green-eyed monster", "Pause" is correct, but the most used one is "Map" And I'm totally satisfied with the layout. "Cover me" takes two button presses at the mo - one for either "flight group" or a specific wingman, one for the "Cover me" request. I probably should combine the "cover me" button with a preceding "Flight group"... Btw, no X36 yet, not enough space on my desk. Will have to rebuild that area first. Till then I stick to me trusty old MS Sidewinder Prec. Pro. [This message has been edited by VolkerB (edited 10-02-2001).]
