Well, I'm starting on my first repaint and it is not that hard to do the work it's more trying to understand how the software works.

At the present time I have to use 3 programs to get what I need done. I am trying out PSP10 but it is not as intuitive in certain areas. I also use a program called Photostudio 5 but it is only good for 24bit output. It is easier to repaint stuff in this program but I have to bring the finished texture into Photoshop 7 to convert it to 16 or 32 bit so it will work.

I think PSP10 can do it but I still am learning this program.

I wish there one one simple program that would work that was more intuitive.

PSP 10 is fine. First, get the updates to 10.03.

Also, customize your workarea before you even start. That's my recommendation.

PSP can do everything you need to do for FS9.
You will need the bitmap tools to convert textures to the DXT format.

Very easy. Post here if you need help with that.

I work in layers, and then separate the mask layer to a Greyscale BMP to import with the BMP tools. Different formats use:

8 bit, 4 bit and 2 bit masks
(256 shades of grey, 16 shades of gray, and Black/White).

Going the other way, I save as a TGA with alpha (32 bit usually).

I finished my first repaint. Still have some minor things I want to fix but pretty good for the first time.

Next will be our A-26 which will be fun.

very nice work, the only thing I would suggest to do is add some weathering if you can?

Look at some pictures of oil streaks and try to do them as more layers.

We don't have weathering on our SNJ. It is cleaned after every flight and polished frequently. I'll get into weathering at a later date. I know how to do it but need a plane that has that first. Still learning.

Tolwyn,

What link do you want ?

Repaint is not ready yet. I still have some cleanup to do yet. The model can be gotten from AVSIM or Flightsim filename: cp-at6f.zip

I use different sounds that come from -----

====================================================================================================

FS2004 T-6 Harvard Sounds
by Doug Smith

This sound folder can be used in any T-6 Harvard aircraft for FS2004. It has an authentic "snarl" heard when the props exceed the speed of sound both from the cockpit, and outside the aircraft. I recorded the sound myself and incorporated it into the fabulous "Wasp" sound package by Jay "Farmboy" McDaniel. (fb_wasp_sound.zip)
Disappointed by the T6 sound packages available, I believe this sound package will give you the truest sound available and it is my pleasure to share with the Flightsim community.

Thank you FB for your fine editing.

Replace the "sound" folder in any T6 folder with this one, and alias all T6's to this folder.

Enjoy

D.Smith 11/2005

====================================================================================================

These are the most realistic SNJ sounds yet.....

The plane, mainly. But your repaint, too when done. ;\)

What is the syntax in the sound.cfg for aliasing to another/different folder?

I put all my sounds in the default directory along with panels. Here is my alias for sounds.

[fltsim]
alias=default\sound\AT6_1
