Sticky!

ps: btw, after all the SimHQ articles, i just can't take it anymore! ... i feel compelled to jump headfirst into the rFactor scene! ;-) ... but, with all the mods, different physics models, etc. etc., its tough to be a newbie in here ... any chance of a beginners config guide (including recommendations for the must-do mods etc) being stickied here? ... better still, an article!

Glad you like the SimHQ Motorsports related articles. And I think you're guaranteed a good time in the company of rFactor and its ever-growing number of mods.

Chunx' recent articles on how to configure your wheel and various in-game settings is a great guide to getting you started.

Part I: Optimizing the Hardware here
Part II: Optimizing the Controls here
Part III: Optimizing the Driver here
Part IV: Learning To Race here

With the number of mods growing each day, it is very hard to keep up with what is up there, even for a "mod-o-holic" like me. \:\)

If you go to the rfactorcentral site linked above and look through the different car mods available with an eye to what sort of racing that appeals the most to you, you can start trying out any mods offerig that type of racing.

You can also check out how the mods are rated by the community and read the comments posted for any specific mod. Pretty useful feature, as well as comments about installation and any known issues or bugs.

What other cars? Are there other cars in rFactor 2 than the 1960's???

Yes these articles have really pushed me and I FINALLY got around to buying it. I must say though that after an evening of looking, I finally found the F1 circuit and cars to match but I'm very confused as to how to put it all together, say a season (career). What I'm trying to get at is how do I setup the mods to coincide with the correct tracks and cars? I've been looking but I can't find it. I'm very impressed with the handling of the cars that come stock...I can sure imagine how sweet this title can be.

I was having pretty much the same problem, as I just purchase rFactor as well. I'm into formula 1, so I downloaded the F1 championship mod and installed per the instructions. then I found I couldn't access the f1 vehicles because they're locked in rFactor until you earn enough bucks to buy them. that's no good for me, so then someone here told me to type the following into the Chat window right after starting a race:
ISI_BABYFACTORY
This gave me a ouple million dollars and I was able to open the vehicles I wanted up.
