Either that article wandered from it's original course or the author thinks NM, FL, and AZ are wilderness areas.
To some extent they are wilderness. There are huge areas of NM and AZ where you'll barely find any people or development.
very true, we've visited AZ 4 times and the major cities like Tucson, Phoenix & Mesa are scattered with long empty drives in between them.
