First PlayStation 5 Rumors Point To 8-Core Zen CPU and Navi GPU; Lots of Devkits Already Out

..PlayStation 5 should feature an APU composed of an 8-Core Zen CPU and a Navi-based GPU – both customized, as usual with consoles. We don’t know much about Navi yet, but AMD has previously linked its name to “Scalability” and “Nextgen Memory”.

..a large amount of development kits has been already sent to game developers...

The rumor is said to be based on solid insider information. But still a rumor (at least, this was not published April 1). A 2019/2020 launch date is speculated.

8 core AMD APU with Ryzen-style CPU and Navi GPU would be cutting edge in a console -- or anything else, for that matter.

Cores and threads are the near-future of gaming -- so one will need to check the "base frequency" of a CPU they are buying (maximum "boost frequency" is for shorter times on one or two cores -- unless one overclocks).
