As we've noted, changes in the Ryzen socket and cooler attachment makes older AMD coolers unlikely to fit on the new AMD Ryzen AM4 motherboards.
Some manufacturers are making adapters -- so that one can still use an older cooler. I just ordered one from Swiftech for my Swiftech CPU water block. It cost $10 delivered.
