I first saw Blade Runner when I was maybe 12. It made almost zero impression on me, I much preferred Ford's other films (although not American Graffiti, which meant nothing to me). I think it was on my 3rd or 4th viewing when I was in college that I finally started to appreciate the slow pace of the film overall, the film noir aspects, and the moments of brilliance.
It's not for everyone, no, but it is special to those who enjoy that type of film.
