It was indeed a hit when it first came out but it was hardly in the public consciousness in 1990 when "Ghost" came out. It's like all of those early 60's hits that were in "Dirty Dancing". Sure, those songs weren't completely forgotten in 1987 but the film most definitely revived their popularity.
