I never cared for John Wayne.

I think he is a poor actor who became popular by sheer luck only because at the time of his popularity, what he made was the best the movie industry had to offer.

If you pay attention to his westerns, most of them are the same story and theme, just the name of the characters and location have been changed.

Call him the Duke or whatever you want to call him.

I think he is a wimp and an actor who doesn't even take his own work and roles seriously!

Brannigan (1975)

I am not a big John Wayne's fan but I think those 2 films are the only times he played a cop in a modern city and they are not set in the West.

I think he was trying to be a blue collar worker's Dirty Harry.

The Green Berets (1968)

2/5

An Ironic Anti-War movie by John Wayne, considering how many movies he has been where he is killing Indians and the U.S. Army and U.S. Calvary is portrayed as the ultimate bastion of justice and truth and the messenger of America and Christianity!

Did he get a conscience toward the end of his career?

He is also so very wooden in this film!

There are American soldiers dying around him left and right, front and back.

The North Vietnamese regulars are storming the firebase.

John Wayne just over and over nonchalantly as if he is ordering a cup of coffee says: "Move Out."

So unrealistic.

Even after one of his best soldiers gets killed by a vertical rack of punji sticks,

John Wayne says: "Move Out."

Leave the poor soul up there and not even cut him down and take his body with them.

So much for Green Berets' motto of don't leave anyone behind.
