We had a theatre, Jerry Lewis Cinema, that charged 75 cents at night and 25 cents on Saturday afternoon. It did go up to a dollar at some point with matinees reaching 75 cents. I have no idea how they made any money but it was open most of my child hood through at least the early 80s. I remember seeing the Return of the Jedi after it was widely released in first run theatres, so that might be around 1984ish.
