Indeed he was. DDL is one of the most absolutely gifted actors I've ever seen. Every film of his that I've seen I've always been deeply impressed.
He was superb in 'There Will Be Blood' and so was Paul Dano in the same film though Paul appear to have been relegated to a afterthought in his recent appearance in the 'Looper'. But of course 'Looper' is not a dramatic piece compared to 'There Will be Blood'
