The Obutto looks great for simming with a HOTAS, but I really don't see being able to play a first person shooter, or really any keyboard and mouse driven game on it. Or rather, I really don't see being able to easily transition from HOTAS simming to keyboard mouse gaming (or web surfing or doing any office work and typing) on it.

Why?

Because the chair is (leaning) too far back from the desk to comfortably type- in the pics on page 6 of the review, the desk is recessed inward quite a bit, which would make the keyboard out of arm's reach, or at least uncomfortable to lean into.

Also, wouldn't the stick and throttle on either side (which is how I prefer to sim) constrict the arms as one leaned in to type?

While having the side table is a great idea for using a mouse, it would not be practical to place a keyboard on a side table, at least for first person shooters like Arma2 or for typing.

Another question- in this pic http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/images/technology_173a_023.jpg, would it be possible to have the mouse on the side table and the throttle located as in this pic? http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/images/technology_173a_024.jpg Basically, what I mean is- is there room in the setup to have both the side table for a mouse and the throttle and stick on the left and right side of the chair? For simming, that would be my prefferd setup- throttle on left, stick on right, and mouse on far left/further back on the left so that it essentially sits directly at the bottom base of the throttle (i.e., right in front of the detente side of the throttle).

Plus there are games like Battlefield and Arma2 where one might transition back and forth from FPS (keyboard and mouse) to Sim (HOTAS) in an instant. In this video, the Obutto is setup for keyboard and mouse FPS gaming, with the chair and desk close together. Problem is, there's no room for a HOTAS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jez-EKgmOoo
It seems like having a keyboard tray that either pivots to the left or right out of the way, or that one can push in and pull out, would allow users to quickly bring it closer to them for keyboard use and move it further out of the way when they need to use the HOTAS. Of course, the HOTAS stands would then need to move, too, either folding down/outwards, or something, so they would move out of the way of the keyboard.

This looks like a great product, but I do wonder about it's ease of comfort for gaming, typing, and surfing.

Thanks.
