Power & Glory v.2.00
by Jens “McGonigle” Lindblad
Introduction
In September 2007, I reviewed the Power & Glory mod v. 1 from GTL Workshop; a modding team with impeccable credentials and a penchant for attention to historical and modeling detail, tire-modeling and perfection.
I was so impressed with this 2007 mod for GTR2 featuring legendary racecars from the sixties and seventies that it was my prime candidate for Mod of the Year, until the GPL 1966 mod turned up and beat P&G by less than half a cat’s whiskers. I’ve been agonizing ever since, if that decision was the right one.
A year has passed and when I was contacted by the GTL Workshop team and offered a test drive in the “soon” — to-be-released version 2 of the mod, I jumped at the opportunity, only thinking afterwards — what if my expectations are too high, how can the team possibly improve on the first release, has the passing year been kind to GTR2 and this mod, or has it been left in the wake of newer offers like GTR Evo, Race, and iRacing?
I found that version 2 of the P&G mod raises the bar even further than its predecessor. It is absolutely top-notch, oozing of quality the likes of which a commercial company can’t possibly afford to strive for: Well researched, well executed, and above all extremely fun and satisfying to drive. Even if you perhaps tired a bit of ISI-powered sims and the huge number of mods, this is a “must-download”, “must-drive” mod.
