Rogue Warrior
Rogue Warrior has a closed booth that we will get more info on tomorrow. What we did see was a nice trailer. Think of Rogue Warrior as a one man squad Modern Warfare mixed with a Splinter Cell stealth action/tactical game. Team Xbox has the trailer online.
Order of War
We knew nothing about this game before E3. It’s yet another WW2 RTS style game, but on the Alienware M17x display and mirrored on a 40-inch widescreen, it looked incredible. We saw no gameplay of it and so can’t comment yet on what, if anything, makes this different than all the others. But we will try and find out by E3’s end.
Zombie Apocalypse
Yeah yeah — we know we shouldn’t be mentioning this game at SimHQ, but a number of you really like the Left 4 Dead first person shooter series. When we saw this one we had to laugh. It is clearly a Left 4 Dead rip off, but in a top down RTS-style game. There were four players, a lot of guns, a lot of zombies, a lot of blood, and a lot of… well, everything. It’s really over the top but still kind of cool — in a zombie way.
Left 4 Dead 2
New characters, new locations, same zombie horde. If you love L4D1, you will love number 2. The location I saw on the trailer was a beach-side, resort in the daylight. It was unique and cool. Fileplanet has the trailer here.
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction
This looked and sounded incredible. I’ve never been into the series, but I know that a lot of you guys are. The weapons and the available character motions are improved. And the big thing was the improved AI and how each gameplay session is somewhat randomized. According to the PR announcer, the bad guys may or may not be there each time you play, the bad guys may or may not run, and the bad guy may or may not kill you. The story mission can be played over and over with different contacts and outcomes. Fileplanet has a game play trailer here.
Operation Flashpoint 2
Boys, Magnum got some hands-on time with this game via the Xbox and let he can now profess that this is indeed a tactical shooter after all. Mag started with a mission briefing, cleared an enemy camp and took out a radio tower. (Hey, they stole our most prized Military Monday mission from Armed Assault, but that’s OK.) He then sent his teammates up behind cover. Using bounding overwatch, they made it near the objective. A firefight ensued; Magnum's character was wounded and he had to stop his own bleeding before clocking out. He next ordered the squad to suppress the enemy bunker, then ordered them to flank right while he took over the suppression. Magnum brought up his red dot sight and killed the enemy in front while the squad mates properly flanked and neutralized. We then made it over to the radio tower where I placed some C4. We got out of the area and up it went in smoke. We then had to make it to the extraction. Operation Flashpoint 2 may be a console game now, but it is clearly a tactical squad based shooter. More info to follow.
The one thing we wanted more than anything was to get a confirmation and/or information on the next Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games. Magnum walked up to the UbiSoft booth that was mainly showcasing Assassin’s Creed 2 (which looks incredible), and asked the PR rep if GR or R6 was going to be announced this year at E3. He rudely stated “NO” and turned and walked away. Not very PR of him, but that’s UbiSoft. Hopefully the titles will still be announced and he can secure some more info.
Tomorrow we will stand in line for more info on Rogue Warrior, Order of War, Left 4 Dead 2, Splinter Cell, and Operation Flashpoint 2. We’ll also try to find out what’s behind that secret Ubisoft curtain, and we hope to find info about the next Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six. We’re also looking forward to finally see something about Modern Warfare 2 from Activision; in a nonsensical PR hype, all we got today was an 18-hour countdown to… something.

We want your Feedback.
