EAW in Review
There is a kind of "Retro"
movement going on to revive and update old video games. The
EAW community is far ahead of the curve on this, and the story
of the community itself is at least as interesting as new
game developments.
SimHQ Forums was among the first to
examine European Air War when it appeared on the flight sim
market in November of 1998. It's time to review and update
the status of this seven-year old game.
Despite its age, EAW is among SimHQ's
most popular flight sim forums, with over 63,000 current posts
and many members. Forum member "Pisis" (David Kraus)
calculated back in July that if you include the EAW archives,
you get 229,393 posts here alone. Posts elsewhere and in now-defunct
forums bring the total to over 400,000.
Why do they care? And what's changed?
This was the look of
EAW in 1998-1999 when it was new in 640x480 resolution.
