Chuck "Magnum" Ankenbauer
SimHQ Land & Armor Combat Editor

I'm Chuck "Magnum" Ankenbauer, a 40 year old living in beautiful Naples, Florida with my even more beautiful wife, Sylvia and our two girls, Melissa and Jessica. It's kind of like Noah's Ark here, with two dogs, two cats, two birds, two hamsters, and three turtles, yes three... I don't know why three turtles.

I spent 10 years in the US Army as a Military Policeman. I spent five years in Aschaffenburg, Germany as a patrolman during peace time and a DIP mission if the cold war turned hot. (DIP meaning Die In Place.) I then came back to the States to Ft. Benning, Georgia where I became a Sergeant and a Military Working Dog Handler. I spent a year in Korea as an Explosives Dog Handler, then returned to Ft. Benning as the Military Working Dogs Training Sergeant where I spent my last year or two training our 18 dog teams.

I decided to end my military service due to marriage and having two kids. The military life is great for a single man, but gets very hard when you start adding others to the equation.

I then moved back to Florida (I was born and raised in Clearwater). Clearwater got too crowded so I moved South to Naples, Florida. I joined the city police department in 1996 and have been there since — almost 10 years. I've been on the midnight shift since day one and refuse to leave it. I started out as a patrolman, then became the DUI Unit Officer, and then specialized training as a DRE, (Drug Recognition Expert). I just became one of only two K9 officers in this department. I now patrol the not so mean streets of Naples at night with Shadow, my German Shepherd. I am assigned to the SWAT team as K9 support and though not listed on the team, work and train with them constantly.

When I'm not training or working, or not getting my 4 hours of sleep a day (no kidding), I am either watching the latest DVD action flick on my 50'' DLP big screen TV and 600 watt home entertainment system, or right here on the computer either playing computer games or writing/posting about them. I mostly play games solo, but am a member of an online tactical gaming group where I get my multiplayer fix.
