Jens "McGonigle"
Lindblad
SimHQ Motorsports Editor
Jens
C. Lindblad alias McGonigle was born in Copenhagen
in 1962. After spending the formative years of his life and
serving for a short spell in the RDAF as a private 1st class
somewhere else in Denmark, he returned to the capital 20 years
after his birth. No one took much notice.
Always a huge fan of motorcars, as
a child he liked to sit in real cars saying brrrrrrrrm
and going on long imaginary drives.
Formula 1 and Le Mans was already
a huge attraction for the youngster in the early seventies,
sadly the media coverage then was sparse, and news items were
relegated to the latest sports news, if indeed there were
any mentionings at all.
These days the phone is off the hook,
and the beaker always full with coffee (or something stronger)
when the yearly Le Mans is being run. Sadly, when Formula
1 is being shown, he tends to catch up on his sleep.
Being a late PC-bloomer, the first
PC was a P3-500MHz. Of course this meant that a lot of ground
had to be covered in a short time: Of the first titles that
were sampled, GPL has stayed and survived on his hard disk
to this day, and Jens served as an instructor with the GPL:W
Driving School during the schools existence.
EAs F1 series followed, as did
the Nascar Racing titles from Papyrus Design Group. Rallying
also has his interest. Rally Trophy and Richard Burns Rally
according to Jens, are the best you can get.
In flight sims Jens all-time
favorite is Rowans´ Battle of Britain, confessing very
much to being only casually and fleetingly interested in anything
that uses jet-propulsion.
The nickname "McGonigle"
was chosen in honor of W.C. Fields. They dont make characters
like that anymore. And if they did, such characters would
be banned.
